Ruling on Visiting Places from the Seerah | Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān

Question:

What is the ruling on visiting places from the seerah such as the cave of Hira, Mount Uhud and Masjid Qiblatain?

Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān:

Visiting (those places) to seek blessings or believing that it is legislated is a bid’ah and not permissible. As for visiting them to just see them, then there is no problem (in that). But if you were to visit to seek blessings or believing that visiting those places is legislated and that there is reward for [visiting] then this is bid’ah and not permissible.
