In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Indeed, from Allaah’s Universal Will is that He does not change the state of affairs of a people until they change what is within themselves. Allaah (The Most High) said:

‘’That is so because Allah will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in their ownselves. And verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.’’ [8:53]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah). [13:11]

Indeed Allaah gives the oppressor respite until he is seized and never released. Narrated Abu Moosaa (radiyallaahu-anhu), Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Allah gives respite to a Dzaalim (wrong-doer oppressor, etc.) but when He Seizes (catches) him, He never releases him.” Then he recited:

[وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَىٰ وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ۚ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ -Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong: Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe (11:102)] [Bukhaari number:4686]

Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) created His creatures (i.e. mankind and Jinn) and placed them on the earth for a trial and a test. Allaah (Glorified and Exalted be He) stated:

Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah’s sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet] [18:7]

And Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) said:

Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. [67:2]

So whoever fears Allaah, believes in (Allaah and His Messenger) and do righteous deeds, then indeed Allaah will make him (or her) happy and give him (or her) a good life. But whoever disbelieves in Allaah or disobeys Him, or brazenly disobeys Allaah with acts of disobedience, Shirk or Bidah, then indeed Allaah’s Gaira is provoked when what he has prohibited is violated. Narrated Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu), the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “Allah has a sense of Ghaira, and Allah’s Sense of Ghaira is provoked when a believer does something which Allah has prohibited. [Bukhari 5443]

Allaah grants respite to His slaves for a little while so that they may repent to Him, turn to Him in obedience, avoid disobedience, depend on Him and seek His refuge. But if not, then Allaah’s punishments are different types and severe.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.). [7:96]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter). [16:97]
