Khutbah: Hold Firm to The Book & Sunnah

In this khutbah Ustaadh reminds us of the command of Allaah for us to implement and abide by The Qur’aan and The Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam).

Allaah says in Surah Ali ‘Imran [3:102-103] in His Book:

“O you who believe! Fear Allah (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islam (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allah. And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves”

Clinging Onto The Sunnah In Times Of Differing | Abdul Hakeem Mitchell

In this highly beneficial lecture Ustaadh Abdul Hakeem (Hafidhahullah) briefly explains the differing that will take place in the ummah, the reasons for this differing and how to act when this differing occurs. Based upon the short but precise Hadith of ‘Irbaad ibn Saariyah.

On the authority of Abu Najeeh al-’Irbaad ibn Saariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave us an admonition by which our hearts were filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. So we said, “O Messenger of Allah! It is as though this is a farewell sermon, so counsel us.” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “I counsel you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah, and to listen and obey [your leader], even if a slave were to become your ameer. Verily he among you who lives long after me will see much differing, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (the rightly guided caliphs), those who guide to the right way. Cling to it stubbornly [literally: with your molar teeth]. Beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for verily every bidah (innovation) is misguidance.”

Faa’idah From Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] Regarding The One Straight Path With Its Various Branches That Leads a Person to Allaah’s Good Pleasure

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Now has come to you Our Messenger [Muhammad] explaining to you much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture and passing over [i.e. leaving out without explaining] much. Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light [Prophet Muhammad] and a plain Book [this Qur’an].  Wherewith Allah guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness by His Will unto light and guides them to a Straight Way [Islamic Monotheism].

[Surah Al-Maa’idah Aayaat 15-16]

[In the Aayah above, it is stated]: “Wherewith Allah guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace”; but it is stated in another Aayah that Allaah’s Path [or way] is one, [such as the Aayah]: “And verily, this is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not [other] paths, for they will separate you away from His Path.”
[Surah Al-An’aam’ Aayah 153]

What Is The Combined Meaning of The Two Aayaat- Al Maa’idah Aayaat 15-16 and Al An’aam Aayah 153?

Answer: Allaah’s path is one, but it has branches [i.e. legislated acts of worship attached to one path], such as Salaah, Zakat, Sawm, Haj, Jihaad [ref 1], righteousness, keeping the ties of kinship and other deeds. All these deeds [i.e. Salaah etc are legislated ways to peace as mentioned in Al-Maa’idah’ Aayaat  15-16] are under the [umbrella] of one path [i.e. Allaah’s legislated path mentioned in Surah Al-An’aam Aayah 153 and not the innovated paths or acts of worship].

[3] The Eed Sacrifice – [Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan Said: “O brother! Do Not Change The Sunnah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Saaleh Al- Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] was asked about giving the Eed sacrifice money so that it is given to the poor and needy.

The Shaikh said that this will not be regarded as Eed sacrifice, rather it is regarded as Sadaqah. The Eed sacrifice is to be done where one is resident with his children as a means of seeking closeness to Allaah. And what is intended by the Eed sacrifice is not to give money, rather it is to offer sacrifice during the days of Eed.

Had it not been the case that this is what is intended, it would not have been specified within the days of Eed. As for giving in charity, it is something one can do throughout the year. O brother! Do not change the Sunnah with the so called proof that it is better for the people [i.e. the claim that it is better to give the Eed sacrifice money to the poor], becauss such views [or opinions] do not enter into affairs related to the Sharee’ah.

[2] Sending Your Personal Eed Sacrifice Abroad – [A Specific Case Regarding a Man Whose Children Live In Another Country] – By Shaikh Uthaymeen [Rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

A worker lives in another country and his children are living in his native country, and they are more in need than the people in the country he is working at present; is it better that he slaughters his Eed sacrifice in the country he is residing at present or send the Eed sacrifice money to his family back home?

Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:

What I see in this Specific Case is that he slaughters both in his present country of residence as well as back home. However, if he is not able to do so, then he should slaughter the sacrifice over there [i.e. for his family back home], so that they can enjoy themselves during the blessed days of Eed.
