Allaah is great. He possesses all perfection. He possesses the most beautiful names and lofty attributes. And amongst His beautiful names is ar-Razzaaq. The All Provider. The One who provides for all of His creation.
Allaah says in Surah Al-A’raf [7:180]:
And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allaah, so call on Him by them.
Islam gives a lofty rank to knowledge. This is the knowledge of the Quraan and Sunnah. Also, it is the knowledge of what the companions and our righteous predecessors where upon (radhiallaahu ‘anhum). Their understandings, their practises, their piousness, their words, their fataawa, their advise, their explanations of the Quraan, and their explanations of the actions & the sayings of The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam).
In this khutba Ustaadh Rayaan mentions various ahadith that show us the importance of gaining beneficial knowledge. How it keeps us upon clarity, upon the straight path and how it keeps us far away from the different paths.
The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said, “When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen.”
Reported by Mu’awiyah (radhiallaahu ‘anhu) – [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
The questioning in the grave is something that we all must face. The 3 questions that we all know off, we cannot refrain from answering them.
In this khutba Ustaadh Rayaan gives a stark warning of the questioning we will all face after our deaths. Our hearing, our hearts, our sight will be questioned. And they will speak. So we must examine our answers by examining our deeds.
The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“A servants two feet will not move on the Day of Judgement until he is questioned about four (things):
His youth & how he spent it.
His knowledge & how he acted upon it.
His wealth, how he earned it & how he spent it.
And his body & how he used/wasted it.”

In this Khutbah Ustaadh Rayaan gives us some essential advice regarding the importance of being united. This unity must be founded upon the way the Salaf us-Salhih. The way of Tawheed and Eemaan in Allaah!
We find that the Arab tribes were divided and they used to harm each other for the very smallest of affairs. Islam came to call them to Tawheed, to the worship of Allaah alone and to rectify the hearts & soluls to be sincere to Allaah.
Islam and Eemaan changed them and they became brothers.
In this Khutbah Ustaadh Rayaan gives an amazing reminder of the benefits of being in constant remembrance of Allaah.
We should fear Allaah as He should be feared, and the best way to fear Allaah is to remember Him constantly. We are in need of remembering Him, for He is The One we will stand before on The Day of Judgement. We are obligated to remember Allaah for it is something that gives life to our hearts.
“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you.” – Surah Al-Baqarah [2:152] – Al-Qur’an
Our lips should be moist with the remembrance of Allaah, for remembering Allaah makes the hearts tremble with fear. This is a beneficial fear that increases our Eemaan, and Allaah has promised forgiveness & a great reward for those that remember Him.
“He it is Who sent down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) into the hearts of the believers” – Surah Al-Fath [48:4] – Al-Qur’an
For the one who does not remember Allaah, their hearts gradually harden until reaching a state of death, even though it beats physically and the person is still alive.
Ustaadh Rayaan ends the khutba describing the best ways in which we can remember Allaah in accordance with the Sunnah of His Messenger (Sallallaahu ‘alahi wa salam)

Question:
The questioner asks: What are the best deeds a person can do in order to please Allaah (The Most High) and (also) benefit one’s deceased parents?
Answer:
Supplicating for your two parents is from the best of deeds that will benefit them after they have passed away; fulfilling their promises (or contracts) after they have passed away; keeping the ties of kinship which cannot be reached except through them and showing respect and kindness to their friends.
It has been reported in a hadeeth on the authority of Abu Usaid Maalik Bin Rabee’ah As-Saa’idee (radiyallaahu-anhu) who said: One day whilst we were with the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) a man from Banu Salamah came and said: O Messenger of Allaah! Is there anything left by way of honouring and showing kindness towards my parents after their death? He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: Supplicating for them; seeking Allaah’s forgiveness for them; fulfilling their promises (or contracts which they may have left behind) after their death; showing respect and kindness towards their friends and keeping the ties of kinship which cannot be reached except through them (i.e. their relatives). Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: Security is a necessity for every human society, especially a Muslim society. Security is a necessity for every society because through it, the beneficial affairs of livelihood are attained. And in the absence of security, the rights of the people are violated, and the beneficial affairs of livelihood cannot be attained; anxiety, fear & chaos occurs, & people are overpowered by the oppressors. Robbery, looting and bloodshed takes place. In the absence of security in society, a person is neither safe even whilst he is at home nor is his family and wealth protected; neither will he be safe in the street nor in the masjid; neither in his office nor anywhere else. Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah) said: ‘Whoever realises what the innovators have abandoned of the Sunnah and left behind and he clings to it, he is a person of the Sunnah and the Jamaa’ah. He should be followed, helped and protected. He is one of those whom the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) bequeathed that he should be looked after'[1]
Shaikh Saaleh al Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented saying:
That is (in the saying of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)]: ‘They are those upon that which I and my Companions are upon today.’ He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) advised that one should be with them, with this Jamaa’ah, with this company of people, with this group upon that which the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and his Companions were upon. However, this requires two affairs:
The First Affair Is: Knowledge; that we learn what the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and his Companions were upon. As for the ignorant one, he does not learn, whilst thinking that what the one in opposition is upon is what the Messenger was upon, when that is not the case.
The Second Affair Is: To be firm upon that which the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and his Companions were upon; because the one who traverses upon the Sunnah will receive grief, trouble and intimidation from the people; but he must exercise patience and not turn away from the truth. He does not bargain (the truth) nor leaves anything of it; and for that reason it has been reported about the one who holds upon his Religion at the end of time, that he is like one holding onto a burning coal or prickles, due to what he will receive of hardship, grief and trouble from the people. So he requires patience.[2]
