Shaikh Fawzaan said: And Allaah’s Aid is Sought! At present the one who acts upon this [i.e. keeps away from ahlul bida] is Considered a secluded person etc

Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad [rahimahullaah] said:

‘Do not sit with a person of innovation, for I fear that curses will descend upon you’

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on the above statement [of Imaam Barbahaaree]: saying: [That is] because punishment, anger and deviation descend upon a person of innovation, so it is feared that you will be afflicted with some of what afflicts him, and for that reason Allaah said:

”And when you (Muhammad) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Qurýaan) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if shaitaan causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers)’[6:68]

And Allaah [The Most High] said to the believers:

‘And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur’aan) that when you hear the Verses of Allaah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allaah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell.’ [4:140]

In this is a warning against sitting with the people of misguidance and desires- [a warning] against sitting, accompanying and listening to their speech or reading their books. So it is upon you to be distant from these affairs. And Allaah’s Aid is Sought! At present the one who acts upon this [i.e. the one who keeps away from the people of misguidance and desires] is said to be a secluded person and a boycotter, and that he is one who harbours doubt against the people.

O Youth! Don’t Allow Any Mu’mayyi to Make Affairs Ambiguous, For Indeed The Deen is Based On Clarification of Truth and Refutation Against Falsehood!

Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari [may Alaah preserve him] said:

And from that which the people of knowledge have affirmed is that this religion is established on two affairs: Clarification of the truth and Refutation against falsehood and its people.  The affirmation of this [affair] becomes manifest to the one who contemplates on the statement of Tawheed [لا إله إلا الله] with clarification and by way of explanation. The saying of the slave (i.e. the Muslim)  لا إله is a refutation against falsehood and its people-those who deify others besides Allaah.  And the statement   إلا الله is an affirmation of truth and a clarification of it. And it (means) that Allaah alone has the right to be worshipped and He has no partner.

Likewise, the statement محمد رسول الله is an affirmation of the Messengership of the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and a refutation against the one who gives him a status above that and thus deifies him; or lowers the rank of his Prophethood and Messengership.

O Youth! Do Not Be Distracted By The Mu’mayyi’ah, For Indeed Striving Against The People of Falsehood is a Righteous Deed

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

The greatest type of reliance upon Allaah is: Reliance upon in [seeking] guidance; establishing Tawheed; adhering to the path of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and striving against the people of falsehood. This is the Tawakkul of the Messengers and particularly that of their [true] followers.

The Statement ‘You [Allaah] alone we worship’ – By Imaam Ash-Shanqeetee [rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

You (Alone) we worship] [Al-Faatihah Ayah 5]

This statement establishes the meaning of [لَا إله إلا الله – There is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah] because its meaning is built upon two affairs- negation and affirmation. Negating all types of worship directed at other gods besides Allaah (The Most High) and affirming that all legislated types of worship (i.e. in the Sharee’ah) are to be directed to the Lord of the Heavens and the earth (i.e. Allaah) alone. The meaning of the statement [إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ – You (Alone) we worship] has been affirmed (or established) in detail in other Aayaat, such as the statement of Allaah:

[يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ – O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you]; so Allaah made that clear (i.e. affirmation that He alone has the right to be worshipped) in His statement, [اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ – Worship your Lord], and at the end of the Ayah He negated (worship directed to others besides Him) in His statement [فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا لِلَّهِ أَنْدَادًا وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ  – Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped)] [Al-Baqarah 21-22] [Ref 1]

Likewise, Allaah’s statement: [وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ – And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)]. So Allaah made it clear (i.e. that He alone has the right to be worshipped) in His statement [اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ  – Worship Allah (Alone)] and He negated worship directed at others in His statement [وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ – avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)] [An-Nahl Ayah 36]

Likewise Allaah’s statement:

Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. [2:256]

He negated (worship directed at others) in His statement: [فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوت – Whoever disbelieves in Taghut] and He affirmed (that worship should be directed to Him alone) in His statement [وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ – and believes in Allah]

Likewise Allaah’s statement:

And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said to his father and his people: “Verily, I am innocent of what you worship, Except Him (i.e. I worship none but Allah Alone) Who did create me… [Az-Zukhruf Aayaat 26-27]

And likewise Allaah’s statement:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ

And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad) but We inspired him (saying): La ilaha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allah)], so worship Me (Alone and none else).” [Al-Anbiyaa Ayah 25]

Likewise, Allaah’s statement:

And ask (O Muhammad) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: “Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?”[Az-Zukhruf Ayah 45]

And other Aayaat besides the above….

May Allaah reward Ustaadh Abu Tasneem (Mushaf al-Banghaali)- Aameen- for informing us of this Faa’idah.

One Whose Pleasure and Displeasure is Solely Based On What He [or She] Receives From The Dunyah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Narrated Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu-anhu): The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, ‘’let the slave of the Deenaar and Dirham, and Qateefah and khameesah (i.e. money and luxurious clothes) perish, for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased.’’ [Bukhaari. Number 2886]

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) commented on this hadeeth as follows:

This hadeeth is about the one who only seeks after the Dunyah (worldly possessions) and does not desire the Hereafter; rather his only desire is Dunyah. He does not give concern to his religion, rather his only concern is the Dunyah; so if he is given something from the Dunyah he becomes pleased with Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] and the people; but if he is not given from it, he becomes displeased with Allaah and the people.

[تعس ]- meaning ‘destroyed’.  [التعس] means ‘destruction’ and unsuccessful. [Allaah (The Most High) said]:

[وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَتَعۡسً۬ا لَّهُمۡ – But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah), for them is destruction. (47:8)]

Why is he called a slave (of the Deenaar and dirham)? That is because he attaches his heart to it (i.e. wealth), so the worldly life becomes as if it is his lord. He attaches his heart to it and becomes enslaved by it. The poet says:

*I obeyed my desires and thus they enslaved me

*And had I indeed been satisfied (with what I have) I would have been free

Therefore, this man’s concern is (only) the Dunyah – if given from it he becomes pleased, praises and extols; but if not given, then indeed he (becomes) displeased and angry, just as Allaah (Glorified Be He and Free is He From all Imperfections) stated about the hypocrites:

وَمِنۡہُم مَّن يَلۡمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ فَإِنۡ أُعۡطُواْ مِنۡہَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمۡ يُعۡطَوۡاْ مِنۡہَآ إِذَا هُمۡ يَسۡخَطُونَ

And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged! [9:58]

Their pleasure and displeasure is attached to wealth. The one who (becomes) pleased and displeased (solely) for the sake of wealth is a hypocrite, a slave of the Deenaar and the Dirham. Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ رَضُواْ مَآ ءَاتَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥ وَقَالُواْ حَسۡبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤۡتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥۤ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٲغِبُونَ

Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger () gave them and had said: “Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger (from alms, etc.). We implore Allah (to enrich us).” [9:59]

This (hadeeth) conveys a censure against being covetous of the Dunyah, and (an admonition) that a person should not solely be pleased or displeased due to the Dunyah, rather his anger and pleasure should be for the sake of his religion and for the sake of Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something of it he takes it; but if not given anything from it, then indeed he should say: ‘’Allaah suffices me and He will give me give from His bounty.’’

When the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) used to distribute wealth, he used to give those whose Eemaan was weak and the hypocrites – he gave them more (than others); but he did not give anything to the best of the sahaabah; rather he entrusted them to their religion, for indeed due to their (strong) Eemaan they would not become angry if not given (anything). As for the people of weak Eemaan, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) feared that they will be enraged, so he gave them and brought their hearts closer (the religion).

So this (hadeeth also conveys the affair of) piety and that it is obligated on a person not to attach his heart to the Dunyah (i.e. in the blameworthy manner mentioned in this hadeeth) – solely getting angry and pleased due to it; rather he should attach his heart to Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something lawful from it- which he did not ask for- then indeed he takes it and utilises it as a means of obedience to Allaah; but if he is not given anything, then indeed his religion suffices him and He places his trust and reliance in Allaah. This is the difference between the people of the Dunyah (i.e. those who solely strive for it at the expense of the aakhirah) and the people of the Deen (i.e. those who seek after lawful provision in the worldly life and make the afterlife their main goal).

When We Speak and Act, People Judge Us Based On What They See, But Allaah Knows Everything In Our Hearts!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibn Rajab [rahimahullaah] said:

When it is the case that the original [place] of Taqwah is in the heart, then none can determine its reality except Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic), as he [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: ‘’Indeed Allaah neither looks at your images nor your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your actions.’’ And in another narration, [he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] said: Indeed, Allaah neither looks at your bodies nor your images’’ [1]

Indeed, there may be many a person with a good looking image, or wealth, or prestige, or leadership in the worldly life, whilst his heart is deprived of Taqwah. And it may be that there is one with nothing (of the worldly life) but his heart is filled with Taqwah, so he becomes nobler in the Sight of Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic); rather this is mostly what happens. [2]
