Love The Poor and Needy!

It is not something amazing that a poor and needy person would love the one who is kind to him [or her], rather what is amazing is that a kind person loves a poor and needy person.

This Week’s Khutba: Protect Yourself and Your Families From the Evils of Extremism | Rayaan Barker
Written by Masjid Al Furqan on . Posted in Announcements, Audios, Events, Khutbah (Friday Sermons).
Friday Khutba from Masjid al-Furqan on the dangers of extremism and how to protect yourself and your family from extremism.
The evil actions of the khawarij, are from their desires and not from Islam, nor of the Prophet sallahualaywasallam, and Salaf (Pious Predecessors).
(Khawaarij = renegades, an ancient sect that split off the main body of Muslims. They are today succeeded by Al-Qaida, ISIS, al-shabaab and their likes)
Parents should be weary, and teach their children the correct Islamic Creed and Methodology, save them from extremism and chaos. They should bring the youth to the scholars, seek knowledge from its proper sources, not from those with deviated ideologies

Islaam and the Muslims Are Not Ruined, Except By the Khawaarij and Those Similar to Them…by Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] said:
By Allaah! Islaam and the Muslims are not ruined except by these type of [people] amongst the people of bidah and misguidance-the khawaarij and those similar to them, and those who are worse such as the Rawaafid.
The rawaafid are worse than the khawaarij, and Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon (Ref1) ally with them and say: “They [rawaafid] are our brothers; the differing between us and them is like the differing between [Imaam] Maalik and [Imaam] Shaafi’ee- Meaning: The differing between us [i.e. Ikhwaan Muslimoon] and them [i.e. rawaafid Shiites] is based on ijtihaad. If Imaam [Maalik] and [Imaam] Shafee’ee differ in [some] affairs, they are all rewarded. And if we [ikhwaan al-muslimoon] differ with the rawaafid shiites, then us and them are rewarded.
O deceivers! [i.e. Ikhwaanis] The rawaafid revile the Sahaabah and declare them disbelievers; they revile the wives of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallaam]; they say that the Qur’aan is distorted; they have shir’kiyyaat [i.e. beliefs, views and acts of major polytheism] and they deify the leaders of the Prophet’s family. So does all of this not harm them [i.e. harm their claim to Islaam]? Is this not irjaa?! [i.e. O Ikhwaanis! Is this alliance of yours with the rawaafid and your claim that the differing between you and them is like the differing between Imaams Maalik and Shaafi’ee not Ir’jaa?!(Ref 2)]

Iblees and His Offspring Are The Enemies of Mankind!

Allaah [The Most High] said:
And (remember) when We said to the angels; “Prostrate to Adam.” So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun. [18:50]
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] stated:
Allaah says to His slaves: I ennobled your father; raised his rank and gave him preference over others. I commanded all the angels to prostrate to him as a [sign] of honour and nobility, and they obeyed Me; but my enemy and yours [i.e. Iblees] refused [to prostrate] and disobeyed my command. He refrained from obeying Me [Allaah], so how can it be fair seeming to you [sons of Aadam] that you take him and his offspring as allies besides Me [Allaah]- obeying him and disobeying Me; allying with him against what pleases Me, whilst they [Iblees and his offspring] are the severest enemies to you. So you ally with My enemy and he commands you with his enmity. Whoever allies with an enemy of a king, then he is the same as the enemy of the king, for indeed love and obedience cannot be complete except by way of having enmity towards the enemy of the one you follow and having allegiance to the friends of the one you follow. As for having allegiance to the enemy of the king and then claiming that you are the ally of the king, this is impossible…..[Source: Al-Jawaab al-Kaafi…118-119. abridged]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:
Every competitor compete the other and is happy when joined in it, just as the companions of the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahua-alayhi-wasallam] used to compete in good and they were pleased when others joined them; rather they used to encourage one another whilst competing. This is part of seeking to be foremost in [good deeds]. Allaah [The Most High] said: [ ۖ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ-So hasten towards all that is good]. Allaah [The Most High] said:
[سَابِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ – Race one with another in hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord (Allah), and towards Paradise, the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth]. [57:21]
Umar Ibnul Khattaab [radiyallaahu-anhu] used to hasten towards [good deeds to compete] Abu-Bakr [radiyallaahu-anhu], but he never won. [Ref 1]
Umar [radiyallaahu-anahu] said: One day the Messenger of Allah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] commanded us to give sadaqah. At that time I had some property, so I said: Today I shall surpass Abu-Bakr if I am to surpass him any day. So I brought half of my property. The Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: What did you leave for your family? I replied: The same amount. Then Abu-Bakr brought all that he had with him. So the Messenger of Allah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said to him: What did you leave for your family? He replied: I left Allah and His Messenger for them. I [Umar] said: I shall never [excel you] in competing you in anything. [Ref 2]

The Conditions of The Shahaadah | Rayaan Barker
Written by Masjid Al Furqan on . Posted in Announcements, Events, Lessons.
Explanation of ash-Shaykh al’Allamah Ubayd ibn Abdillah al-Jaabiree (Hafithahullah)
Read by Rayaan Barker (Graduate of Madinah University)
Lesson 1
The Statement of Laa illaha illah – is the Key to Paradise.
The Shahaadah is the foundation of al-Islaam, it is the first Pillar of islaam
Abdullah ibn Umar said:
“Islaam is built upon five things, The testification to Laa ilaa ha ilal Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah…”
So the virtue of the Shahaadah is indeed great and lofty, it enters people into islaam
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
“The best statement that I and all of the other Prophets have said is the testification of Laa ilaha illalah, to him belongs the dominion, to Him belongs all praise…”
The Prophet sent Mu’aadh ibn jabal to Yemen and instructed him to call the People of the Book to firstly Laa ilaha ilallah and is from the first of affairs in Islaam, it is the first matter a person calls to when giving Da’wah
The Prophet likewise instructed the dying folk to say Laa ilaa ha ilallah
It is from the highest part of Eemaan. Eemaan increases and decreases as Ahlus Sunnah believe
The Prophet said:
“Eeman has 70 odd branches and from the highest part of it is Laa ilaaha illalah”
It was said to Wahb ibn Munnabih:
Isn’t Laa ilaaha illalah the key to jannah? He said:
“Indeed it is, however every key has teeth, so if you come with the key with the correct teeth then the door will open for you however if you do not have the correct key the door wil not open for you”
Thus if you come on the Day of Judgement with the Shahaadah fulfilling all of it’s conditions then you will be successful Inshaa’Allah. The Shahaadah needs to be actualised throughout one’s life and for it to not merely be a statement upon one’s tongue
Lesson 2
In this lesson, Ustadh Rayaan hafidhahullaah discusses the second condition of the Shahaadah which is al Yaqeen.
-It is to have certainty about it’s meaning, to have complete knowledge about the Shahaadah which brings certainty and opposes doubt.
-Eemaan does not benefit an individual without certainty. An individual cannot have Conjecture, assumptions or presumptions about the Shahaadah.
-Allah subhaanahu wa Ta’aalah says in the Qur’aan in surah Al Hujuraat ayah 15:
“Indeed the believers are those that have believed in Allah and his Messenger and they do not have doubt..”
-If doubt clings to the foundation of Eemaan it opposes it. Thus certainty needs to be absolute.
Lesson 3
This audio starts with the condition of al-Ikhlaas (Sincerity) and also covers the condition of as-Sidq (Truthfulness). It is imperative for a Muslim to have sincerity so that all actions are performed sincerely for Allah’s sake alone and to negate all forms of Shirk.
Truthfulness is likewise important to ensure that a Muslims’s Testimony of Faith is actualized based upon him/her being true to it and acting upon all that it entails.
Lesson 4
In this lesson Ustaadh Rayaan discusses the fifth condition of the Shahaadah, al-Mahabah (Love), and the importance of a Muslim upholding this condition. It is imperative for one to love the Shahaadah and all that it commands and likewise it is important to hate all that it negates i.e. Shirk in all it’s forms.
Lesson 5
In this lesson, the last two conditions of the Shahaadah are discussed; al-Inqiyaad (Submission) and al-Qabool (Acceptance). Submission is regarding the outwardly actions just as an individual testifying to the Shahaadah and acting upon it and what it entails. Acceptance is related to the action of the heart and the Scholars have explained it in this manner.
A Healing For all The Diseases of The Heart
Written by Masjid Al Furqan on . Posted in Announcements, Purification of The Soul, Qur'aan, Scholars of Islam, Worship - 'Ibaadah'.
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Allaah [The Most High] said:
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ۬ وَرَحۡمَةٌ۬ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۙ
And We send down from the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism and act on it). [Soorah Al-Israa: Ayah 82]
There are three statements [of the scholars] regarding the Qur’aan being a healing: [a] It is a healing for misguidance due to what it contains of guidance; [b] It is healing for illnesses due to what it contains of blessings; [c] It is healing due to its explanation and clarification of the obligatory duties and rulings of the religion. [1]
The Qur’aan is a healing for the hearts. It heals the diseases of ignorance, doubt and scepticism. Allaah [The Most High] has never revealed a cure that is neither more comprehensive and beneficial, nor greater and quicker in removing diseases than the Qur’aan. [2]
The Qur’aan contains a healing for all [diseases] of the heart, such the disease of Shubhah [i.e. an affair that is made to resemble truth but is falsehood in reality], ignorance, corrupt views, perversion and evil aims; for indeed the Qur’aan is gathered upon ‘Al-Ilm Al-Yaqeenee-i.e. Knowledge of Absolute Certainty’ by way of which every shubhah and affair of ignorance is removed. It contains an admonition and a reminder by way of which every desire that is in opposition to the command of Allaah is removed. It is a healing for the bodies from what is harmful to them and its illnesses. As for it being a Mercy, it is due to the means and paths it guides to. If the servant acts [upon those means and follows those paths], he [or she] will be successful, receive Mercy, an everlasting happiness, reward in this worldly life and everlasting reward in the Hereafter. [3]
It (i.e. the Qur’aan) combines healing for the diseases of the heart, such as doubt, hypocrisy and other than that. It is a healing for the bodies when utilised for ruqya, such as what took place in the story of the man who performed ruqya with Soorah Faatihah on a man who was stung [by a scorpion]…. [4]

The Only Determinant of Nobility-[By Imaam Ash-Shaatibee]
Written by Masjid Al Furqan on . Posted in Scholars of Islam, Worship - 'Ibaadah'.
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Imaam Ash’Shaatibee [rahimahullaah] said:
Know that Allaah has established this sharee’ah as a proof against the creation [i.e. mankind and jinn] – the old and young alike; the obedient and the disobedient; the righteous and the wicked. Allaah did not specify the proofs against anyone in exclusion of others. Likewise, all the other revealed laws were established as proof against the other nations to whom those laws were revealed.
The Sharee’ah is the judge- restrictedly and unrestrictedly. It is the judge for all those who have reached the age of responsibility. It is the path connected to [what Allaah has ordained] and the Greatest Guide. And have you not seen the statement of Allaah [The Most High]:
And thus We have sent to you (O Muhammad) Ruhan (an Inspiration, and a Mercy) of Our Command. You knew not what is the Book, nor what is Faith? But We have made it (this Qur’an) a light wherewith We guide whosoever of Our slaves We will. And verily, you (O Muhammad) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path (i.e. Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism).’’ [Soorah Ash-Shooraa. Ayah: 52]
He [alayhis salaatu wassalaam] was the first to be guided to the Book and Eemaan, and then those who followed him. The Book is the Guide and also the Sunnah which was revealed to him explains that guidance [i.e. the Sunnah and the Qur’aan explain each other]. All the creation [i.e. mankind and Jinn] are guided by it.
So when this is the case, the Sharee’ah is worthy of being a decisive proof against them and a guide by way of which they are guided to the truth. Their nobility is established in accordance with how much they embrace its rulings- through acting upon them in speech, belief and deeds– and not merely due to the level of their intellects or their nobility amongst their people. That is because Allaah [The Most High] determined nobility through Taqwa and not other than it. Allaah [The Most High] said:
[إِنَّ أَڪۡرَمَكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتۡقَٮٰكُمۡۚ- Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa] [49:13]
The one who is the firmest in adherence to the Sharee’ah is more worthy of honour and nobility; therefore, honour is [measured] in accordance with one’s [level of adherence] to the Sharee’ah.
