One of The Reasons Behind shaytaan’s Eagerness to Spilt Husband and Wife

Narrated Jabir [radiyallaahu-anhu] that Allaah’s Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension); the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: ‘You have done well. A’mash said: He then embraces him. [Saheeh Muslim. Number:2813]

And because of the fact that this bond [between husband and wife] is from the most beloved affairs to Allaah and His Messenger, it is from the most hated affairs to the enemy of Allaah [i.e. shaytaan]. Therefore, he hastens to split two people who love another for the sake of Allaah.

The One Who Has Enough Food Whilst His Neighbour Is Hunger, But Does Not Share!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: ‘’He Is Not a [True] Believer Whose Stomach Is Filled While His Neighbour Goes Hungry”. [Ref 1]

This Hadeeth [shows] that the one whose stomach is filled while his neighbour is hungry is not a believer of complete Eemaan. A person of complete Eemaan is the one who checks on his neighbour if the neighbour needs him. It is not possible for a neighbour to be enjoying himself with foods and drinks while his [other] neighbour cannot find anything and he does not give him anything. This [behaviour] does not reflect the manners of a believer with complete Eemaan. And because of this-in this hadeeth- the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] negated the completeness [of the Eemaan of the one who behaves in such a manner]; rather a believer of complete Eemaan is the one who is generous to his neighbour as much as he is able, especially when [the neighbour] in need of a necessity such as food and drink. [Ref 2]

Believers Never Lose Hope In Allaah’s Mercy, But They Also Fear For Themselves

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said in Surah Al-Muminoon Aayaat 57-62:

Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; And those who believe in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord; And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. And We tax not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged.

Few Reminders about the People Mentioned In the Above Aayah

Their hearts are filled with fear due to the fear they have of their Lord. They fear that the justice of their Lord will take effect on them and thus they will be left with no good deeds. They are afraid of having a false good opinion about themselves that they have fulfilled the rights of their Lord and they fear that their Eemaan will cease. This is due to the fact that they know their Lord and what He deserves of exaltation and glory. This fear of theirs necessitates that they refrain from that which will bring about those evil consequences of sins and due to falling short in that which one has been commanded. They carry out that which they have been commanded, such as the prayer, zakat, hajj etc whilst fearing for themselves when their deeds will be presented in the presence of their Lord and on that Day in which they will stand in His presence [on the day of judgement] – fearing that their deeds will not save them from the punishment of Allaah due to their knowledge of their Lord and what He truly deserves of obedience through various types of worship. [Ref 1]

Ibraaheem At-Taymi [rahimahullaah] said: I do not compare my speech with my actions except fearing that my [speech] belies [my deeds]. Ibn Abee Mulayka [rahimahullaah] said: I met thirty Companions of the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and each of them was afraid of hypocrisy for himself and none of them said that he was as strong in belief as the angel Jibreel or Meekaa’eel. And Al-Hasan Al-Basri [rahimahullaah] said: It is only true believers who fear nifaaq and only a munaafiq who considers himself safe [i.e. does not fear nifaaq]. [Ref 2]

A Great Reward For Those Who Pardon Others

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ۚ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ

The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allah ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly), then verily! he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.

But none is granted it (the above quality) except those who are patient, and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion (of the happiness in the Hereafter i.e. Paradise and in this world of a high moral character)

(The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal] – meaning: There is a big difference between this (i.e. a good deed) and this (i.e. an evil deed).

(Repel (the evil) with one which is better]-meaning: The one who does wrong to you, repel (his evil) by treating him in a good manner.

[فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ – (then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend]–meaning: If you (return) good treatment to the one who treat you badly, this good deed (or treatment) will lead to reconciliation and love. He will show you affection and become as if he is a close friend to you, and shows you pity and kindness. Then Allah says:

[وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا- But none is granted it except those who are patient]-meaning: No one accepts this advice and acts in accordance with it, except for the one who exercises patience in that, because it is hard on the souls (i.e. difficult for people to act upon it).

[وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ – and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion] – meaning: The one who has an ample share of happiness in this world and in the Hereafter. Ali bin Abee Talhah said that Ibn Abbas said in his explanation of this Ayah: “Allaah command the believers to exercise patience when they are angry, to be forbearing when encountered with ignorance and to forgive when treated badly; for if they do that, Allaah will protect them from shaytaan and make their enemies humble (in their presence) until they become like close friends.
