Patience and Gratitude In The Dunyah
Demise of the heart
The person who fasts and performs all other obligatory actions is from the best servants of Allah. And those who are negligent in fulfilling their obligations and do not give Allah His full due, then woe be to them. If the individual who deals unjustly with the scales (Mutaffif) in this worldly life is warned of a terrible punishment, then what is the case with the individual who deals unjustly with the scales of the hereafter!
The Salaf worked diligently in perfecting their actions and making them faultless, then after that, they showed great concern for acceptance of their actions. They did this because they feared that their actions would be rejected. They are those who gave what was incumbent upon them while their hearts were in a state of fear. It is reported that Ali bin Abi Taleb said: Be more concerned that your actions are accepted than your concern of performing the action itself. Did you not hear the statement of Allah:
Verily Allah only accepts the actions of the Muttaqeen (pious) – Surah Al-Ma’idah [5:27]
The above are excerpts from Ibn Rajabýs book: Lataif al Maaýrif.
Imaam Maalik [rahimahullaah] said that it reached him from Al-Qaasim Bin Muhammad [rahimahullaah] who said, ”I met a people [i.e. Salaf] who were not amazed by speech, rather they were amazed by actions [i.e. a person acting upon what he knows].
Shaykh Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaamee (May Allah have mercy on him) said:
“The safe path is to believe that the Salaf of this ummah are more knowledgeable, wiser, safer [from error, deviation etc] and had a greater understanding than those who came after them. And there is no safety for one who comes after them except if he follow their way.”
Sharh Al-Hamawiyyah 1
Al-Allaamah Rabi’ bin Hadee al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] said:
“Salafiyyah and the path upon the cannot be actualised until it is distinguished from the [path of] the people of Innovation and illegal Partisanship- inwardly [in one’s heart] and outwardly [through one’s actions].”
Majmoo Ar rudood, page 376
Al-Allaamah Zaid Ibn Muhammad Al-Madhkali ( May Allah have mercy on him ) said :
“And beware! Beware of falling into innovation and mixing [with] its people, and beware of listening to their deceptive [statements] and arguments because it is a disease. Indeed safety- absolute safety- is found in clinging to the Quran and Sunnah based on the correct understanding- the [understanding] of the Salafus Saaleh [the righteous predecessors], which cannot be attained except by way of ernest effort and striving in seeking understanding of the religion, with the righteous intention, wisdom [in the manner of] attaining and conveying [it].”
