Question:

What is obligatory on a woman to do in order to be a Muslim woman who firmly adheres (to her religion)?

Answer:

It is obligated on a person- man and woman- to enter into the fold of Islaam. Testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhamad is the Messenger of Allaah; establish the five daily prayers; pay the Zakat; fast during the month of Ramadhaan and perform the hajj if able to do so and has the means. He/she must affirm and believe in the pillars of Imaan, and they are: Belief in Allaah; belief in Allaah’s Angels; belief in Allaah’s Books; belief in Allaah’s Messengers; belief in the hereafter and belief in Qadr –its good and evil. He/she should fulfill the remaining obligations and keep away from the forbidden (deeds). So by way this he/she becomes a true Muslim.
