Supplicate for our Muslim Rulers and do not Supplicate against them!

Abu Uthmaan Saeed  Bin Ismaa’eel [rahimahullaa (1)] said:  ”Advice the Muslim ruler (in private) and make a lot of supplication for him to be righteous and rightly guided in speech, action and judgement. Indeed, if they (rulers) are righteous, the slaves of Allaah will be righteous by way of them (i.e. through their ruler ship).  Beware of supplicating against them by way cursing and thus they increase in evil and (cause) calamity upon the muslims. Rather supplicate for them to be granted the ability to repent, so that they abandon evil and calamity is removed from the Muslims.

I have hope in Allaah and I fear Him. By Allaah! You do not leave a man alone until you destroy him.”

Our Salaf: Imaam Ahmad–an example of humility

Imaam Dhahabi (rahimahullaah) reported: Muhammad Ibn Al-Hasan Bin Haaroon (rahimahullaah): ”I saw Abu Abdillaah-Ahmad Bin Hanbal–that when he walked on the road, he hated that anyone should follow him.”  I (i.e. Adh-Dhahabi) say: Preferring to be unknown;  being humble and filled with fear (of Allaah) are from the signs of Taqwah and success.

When Bakr (rahimahullaah) used to see an old man, he would say: ”This (person) is better than me. He worshipped Allaah before me.”  And if he saw a youth, he would say: ”This (person) is better than me. I have committed more sins than he has committed.”
