Sit Down And Learn From The Scholars – [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Rabee (hafidhahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

How can you not humble yourself in the presence of a scholar and sit on your knees in his presence with [good] etiquettes and take [knowledge from] him! We do not declare personalities to be free from shortcomings nor do we exaggerate their status, but we [deal with them based] on [good] etiquettes and honor [them]; and we acknowledge – in particular – the station of the scholars of the Sunnah, for indeed the scholars of bidah are not scholars [in reality].
The [true] scholars are those scholars who [possess sound understanding] of the Book of Allaah – the scholars of Tawheed and the [authentic] Sunnah. As long as they do not [hold and propagate] speech that is tantamount to [clear error or misrepresentation], excess and slanderous speech, as is the case with others, then we sit with this scholar and learn from him.

A Type of Misdeed Committed By a Student of Knowledge Against Himself And Others – [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

If we saw a student of knowledge sitting in a gathering of jest, chitchatting and evil, then the [fact that] he has committed a misdeed against himself becomes a manifest and serious [affair]. And this [deed is also] an offence against knowledge and the people of knowledge, because [some other] people are likely to say: “These are students of knowledge and this is the end result of knowledge.” Therefore, he [i.e. the student who sits in a gathering of evil] has [in this case] committed a misdeed against himself and others.

People Are Likely to Judge Us By Our Actions, Statements And Clothing – [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestowed of Mercy

Every person is likely to be judged by the one he meets based on the clothes he is wearing, and likewise will judge him based on his actions, speech, statements, sense of humour and composure. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said: “The people are like a flock of sandgrouse with an innate disposition that makes them imitate each other.”
This [statement of Shaikhul Islaam is] true, and that is why when a new type of clothing appears, you find the people rushing towards it. And it does not take long for all the people to seek after it [or accommodate it]. As for a Shaikhul Kabeer [i.e. a very old person] wearing the clothing of young people, this is among those affairs that are not befitting.

O Allaah! Grant Us Tawfeeq So That What Is Unknown to The People About Us Becomes More Upright Than What They Know!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi [hafidhahullaah] said:
Indeed, a believer may hide some of his deeds, whilst his inner self is more upright [i.e. the righteousness in his heart etc] than his outward deeds [i.e. the righteous deeds he or she does openly etc]

One of Reasons The People of Tawheed Are Honoured By Allaah – [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Rabee (Hafidhahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
But honour, power and glory belong to Allaah, His Messenger [Muhammad)], and to the believers.
[Surah Al-Munaafiqoon’ Aayah 8]
Honour, power and glory belongs to Allaah, and then to the people of Tawheed [i.e. the honour and aid Allaah bestows on them], because they neither humble themselves nor bow except to Allaah [alone]. They do not fear [anyone]; neither do they place their hope [in anything] nor do they have a fervent desire except for the reward of The Most Great, The Compeller, in whose Hand is the dominion, the Owner of everthing and the One who has grasped everything by its forelock [i.e. everything is under His absolute control, dominion and authority] – Glorified and Exalted be He [i.e. Allaah].
Therefore, it is obligated on a Muslim to have great fear when he mentions Allaah and when he fulfils any act of worship, so that he finds himself in that station of Ihsaan described by the Messenger [alayhis salaatu wassalaam], which is ‘to worship Allaah as if you see Him, and even though you cannot see Him, you know that He sees you.”

Muhammad Ibn Al-Hasan [rahimahullaah]: Why Did He Remind The People About a Book on Business Transactions When They Asked Him to Author a Book on Zuhud?- [A Short Faa’idah By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
It was said to Muhammad Ibn Al-Hasan Ash-Shaybaaniy [rahimahullaah]:
“Will you not author a book on Zuhud?” He said: “Indeed, I have written a book on business transactions.”
Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said: “When it was sought from Muhammad Ibn Al-Hasan [rahimahullaah] to author a book on Zuhud, he said, “Indeed, I have written a book on business transactions”; because whoever is acquainted with business transactions and its [sound Islamic] rulings, he will avoid haraam and declare lawful what is to be declared lawful, and this person is the Zaahid [i.e. a person of abstinence in reality].

A Faa’idah Related to Aayah Ninety ‘Surah An-Nahl’ -[By Sh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh (hafifhahullaah)]

Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping none but Allah Alone – Islamic Monotheism) and Al-Ihsan [i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allah, totally for Allah’s sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophet in a perfect manner], and giving (help) to kith and kin (i.e. all that Allah has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help, etc.): and forbids Al-Fahsha’ (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right, etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e all that is prohibited by Islamic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take heed.

What Will Make a Person to Truly Fear Allaah?! – [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:
Khash’yah is the basis of [sound] knowledge. It is ‘Fear of Allaah’ that is founded upon knowledge and exaltation [i.e. exalting Allaah]. And due to this Allaah [The Most High] said:
It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allaah.
[Surah Al-Faatir’ Aayah 28]
If a person knows Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] based on sure knowledge and in the manner in which a person should be acquainted with who Allaah is, then fear of Allaah must enter his heart, because he becomes acquainted with the Great Lord [i.e. The Creator of everything, The All-Provider and the One with absolute dominion over everything], The All-Powerful, The Irresistible and The All-knower of everything that is concealed and hidden from humans [and the entire creation], so you find him – completely- being obedient to Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic].

Ummus Sunnah- [Why Did Some of The Scholars Give The Hadeeth of Gibreel This Name?] – Short Reminder By Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh [Hafidhahullaah]

Umar [radiyallaahu-anhu] narrated: ”One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam], a man with extremely white clothing and extremely black hair came to us. There were no signs of travel on him and none of us knew him. He [came along] until he sat next to the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. Then he placed his knees against the knees of the Prophet [sallal laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and placed his hand on his thighs. Then he said: ”O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.” The Messenger of Allaah [sallal laahu alayhi-wasallam] said, ‘Islaam is to testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; to establish the prayers, pay the zakat, fast [the month of] Ramadan, and to make pilgrimage to the House if you have the means to do so.’ He said, ‘You have spoken truthfully.’ We were amazed that he asked the question and then said that he [i.e. the Prophet] had spoken truthfully.
He then said, ‘Tell me about Imaan.’ He [the Messenger replied], ‘It is to believe in Allaah, His angles, His books, His Messengers, the Last Day and to believe in the divine decree, [both] the good and the evil thereof.’ He said, ‘You have spoken truthfully.’
He said, ‘Tell me about al-Ihsaan.’  He [the Prophet] replied, ‘It is that you worship Allaah as if you see Him, and even though you do not see Him, [you know] He sees you.’ He said, ‘Tell me about [the appearance of] the Hour [i.e. the day of judgement.’ He [the Prophet] replied, ‘The one being asked does not know more than the one asking.’ He said, ‘Tell me about its signs.’ He [the Prophet] replied, ‘The slave girl shall give birth to her master, and you will see the barefooted, scantily-clothed shepherds competing in constructing lofty buildings.’ Then he [i.e. the man] went away. I [i.e. Umar] stayed for a while [i.e. days]; then he [the Prophet] said, ‘O Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?’ I said, ‘Allaah and His Messenger know best.’ He said, ‘It was Gabriel [i.e. angel Gibreel] who came to teach you your religion.”’

What happens to the Knowledge Acquired By a Person If It Is Not Acted Upon?!- [A Brief Reminder By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)}

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:
If a person does not act on the knowledge [he has acquired], it will come to nothing. He will be deprived of blessing [in that knowledge] and will forget it, because Allaah [The Most High] said:

So because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard. They change the words from their (right) places and have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them.
[Surah Al-Maa’idah’ Aayah 13]

This forgetfulness includes both the [removal of knowledge] from one’s memory as well as not acting upon it. But as for when a person acts upon the knowledge [he has acquired], then indeed Allaah [The Most High] increases him in guidance and piety, just as Allaah [The Most High] said:

As for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance, and bestows on them their piety.
[Surah Muhammad’ Aayah 17]
