Sins and Disobedience – [Negligence Vs Misconceptions]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Disobedience is the cause of being in shaytaan’s captivity and a prisoner of lowly desires. A disobedient person is always in the captivity of his devil, the prison of his lusts and leadership of his desires. He is a captive and a shackled prisoner. There is neither a captive whose state of affairs is more evil than that of a captive whose captor is his worst enemy, nor is there a prison more restricted than the prison of desires, and shackles that are more restrictive than the shackles of lust; so how can a heart that is a captive and a shackled prisoner follow the path to Allaah and the home of the afterlife? How can he follow a single path when the heart is shackled and stricken with harm from every angle as a result of the [severity] of its shackles? The likeness of the heart is that of a bird; it distances from harm whenever it flies high and surrounded by harm whenever it lands. It is reported in a hadeeth: ‘’Shaytaan is a wolf to a human being.’’ And just as an unprotected sheep in the midst of wolves is quickly destroyed, likewise if there is no protection from Allaah for the slave, it is inevitable that his wolf will prey on him.

He is protected by Allaah through Taqwaah. Taqwaah is a shield and shelter from Allaah between the person and his wolf; just as it is a shield against punishment in this life and the afterlife. Whenever the sheep is closer to its shepherd, it is safer from the wolf and whenever it is distanced from the shepherd, it comes closer to being destroyed. So the sheep is more protected when it is closer to the shepherd, for the wolf only takes away the [sheep, cattle]  that are distanced and far away from the shepherd.

The basis of this affair is that whenever the heart is distanced from Allaah, then harm upon it is quicker, and whenever it is comes closer to Allaah, it is distanced from harm. Being distanced from Allaah is of various levels and some are more severe than others. Being distanced from [Allaah] through disobedience is greater than being distanced from [Allaah] through thoughtlessness; being distanced from [Allaah] through bidah is greater than being distanced from [Allaah] through disobedience, and being distanced from [Allaah] through hypocrisy and shirk is greater than all of that. [Ref 1]

Sins and Disobedience Is Some Present In All Nations

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Firstly: Sin and disobedience is something common in all the nations.  It is something that has not cease to exist in the world amongst the Children of Aadam regardless of their different social classes- [be it] the common people, the ignorant ones, those who choose to abstain from the lawful pleasures of the worldly life which one can do without, those desirous of it, the leaders and those under their rule.  This affair of [sin and disobedience] is not something specific to this Ummah of Muhammad, such that [the Ummah] and its Prophet are [singled out] with rebuked as a result of that.

Sin and disobedience does not negate belief in the Messengers, because it possible for sin and disobedience to exist alongside belief in the Messengers.  And although disobedience diminishes the perfection and completeness of belief in the Messengers, however it does not negate it.

Secondly: Sins are wiped away through sincere repentance.  Allaah forgives the slave when he turns repentant to Him (Glorified Be), even if his sins fill the heavens and are of a great number.  Allaah said:

”Say: “O ‘Ibaadee (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful’ [39:53]

This is the right of the one who repents because repentance wipes away the sin after it (was committed). Therefore, the one who repents from a sin is like one without that sin.

And Tawheed wipes away sins, as (mentioned) in the Hadeeth Al-Qudsiy: ‘O Son of Adam, if you were to meet Me with enough sins to fill the earth, then met Me, not associating anything with Me (in worship), I shall meet you with its equivalent in forgiveness.’

Therefore, strong Tawheed wipes away the sins of the Muslims; but if punished for their sins, they will be removed from the fire as a result of their belief in Tawheed.

As for the people of shirk and the disbelievers, their good deeds are nullified as result of the disbelief and shirk they are upon.  They will neither meet their Lord with good deeds in order to obtain safety nor will they be forgiven any of their sins.

Allaah (Glorified Be He) said:

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ‌ۚ

‘Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases’ 4:48

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَقَدِمۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُواْ مِنۡ عَمَلٍ۬ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ هَبَآءً۬ مَّنثُورًا

‘And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.’ [25:23] [Ref 2]

Shaytaan Makes Evil Deeds Fair-seeming to The Mushrikoon And Ahlul Bidah-[By Ibn Abbaas, Sa’eed Bin Jubair and Qataadah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) said:

أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ فَرَآهُ حَسَنًا

Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming, so that he considers it as good (equal to one who is rightly guided)? [Surah Faatir; Ayah 8]

Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu-anhumaa) said: This ayah was revealed concerning Abu Jahl and the idolaters of Makkah.

Sa’eed Bin Jubair (rahimahullaah) said: This was revealed concerning the people of bidah and desires.

Qataadah (rahimahullaah) said: And from them (i.e. the people of desires and bidah) are the khawaarij, who make lawful the spilling of the blood of the Muslims and confiscating their wealth. As for the people of the Kabaa’ir (i.e. those sinful Muslims who commit major sins) they are not from them (i.e. not from those whom the evil of their deeds are made fair-seeming, so that they consider it as good) because they do not declare the major sins to be lawful.

The one to whom doubts are made fair-seeming and is submerged in it, and his deeds are made fair-seeming to him, so that he considers it as good, shaytaan makes it fair-seeming to him through waswaas.

Anal Sex is a Major Sin And An Unnatural Act- [Severe Warning And Rebuke By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: The Quraish and the Ansaar used to approach their women from the back [i.e. sexual intercourse in the vagina whilst the wife is not lying down on her back], so the Yahood rebuked them for that. Then Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] revealed: [نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَّكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّىٰ شِئْتُمْ  – Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (i.e. have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will]. [2:223]

In the Saheehayn [Bukhaari and Muslim] it has been reported from Jaabir [radiyallaahu-anhu] who said: The Yahood used to say: If one has sexual intercourse with his wife from the back, she will deliver a squint-eyed child. So Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] revealed: [نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَّكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّىٰ شِئْتُمْ  – Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (i.e. have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will]. [1]

The vagina is the place of seeking after children. As for the anus, it has not been uttered on the tongue of a single Prophet among the Prophets that it is permissible [to have sexual intercourse in the anus]. Imaam Abu Daawud [rahimahullaah] reported in his Sunan from Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu-anhu] that the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: Cursed is the one who has sexual intercourse with his wife in the anus. [2]

If it is the case that Allaah has prohibited sexual intercourse through the vagina due to an apparent harm [i.e. at the time of menstruation or post natal bleeding], then what about the area [i.e. the anus] which is a place for the removal of harmful things [i.e. faeces] permanently.

The woman has a right to be fulfilled by the husband during sexual relations; therefore, to perform sexual intercourse with her through the anus is violation of this right. Anal intercourse neither fulfils her sexual desires nor does it reach its objective. Also, neither is the anus naturally prepared for this act nor was it created for that purpose; rather the vagina is the natural place prepared for sexual relations.

Sexual intercourse through the anus is harmful for the man; likewise it is greatly harmful for the woman because it is something very strange and far removed from innate natural human disposition.

It is from the greatest causes of punishment and blessings being taken away because it brings about Allaah’s Anger and Curse. It also deprives the person of shyness because shyness gives life to the heart [i.e. makes it hate and stay away from evil (and) repugnant acts]. However, if the heart is deprived of this shyness, it starts beautifying repugnant acts and declaring good acts repugnant, and thus corruption becomes strengthened and dominant.

[3] Excerpts from The Dispraise of [Unrestrained Desires]- By Imaam Ibnul Jawzi [rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Jawzi [rahimahullaah] said:

A sensible person should know that those who are addicted to lowly desires reach a state in which they no longer enjoy themselves, but at the same time they are unable to abandon those desires, because it becomes as if it is a necessity of life. And due to this, you’ll find that alcoholics and sex addicts do not even enjoy a tenth of those desires, but they put themselves in a perilous situation that compels them to keep on returning to the act. However, if- based on clear-sightedness- the [false] beautification of those lowly desires ceased, a person will realise that he [or she] has exposed  himself [or herself] to some ruin that is contrary to wellbeing- a situation of grief instead of happiness and [exposed] to pain, whilst seeking after pleasure; so, he [or she] resembles an animal that was led to a trap- neither reached the thing that was utilised to lure it into the trap nor is it able to escape.

A Precise Definition of Hizbiyyah [Illegal Partisanship]- By Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadi
[may Allaah preserve him] said:

Bigoted partisanship for a particular idea that opposes the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger, and [establishing] allegiance and enmity based upon it, this is Tahazzub [illegal partisanship]. This is Tahazzub even if it is not [done under an] organisation. To formulate deviated ideas and gather the people on it, this is a hizb, regardless whether it is [done under an] organisation or not.

The Deadly Scorpions [Ahlul Bidah On Twitter] – Once Again – Think That They Can Sting

Imaam Al-Barbahaari [rahimahullaah] said:

The likeness of the people of innovation is that of scorpions burying their heads and bodies in the sand and leaving their tails out; so, when they are able they sting. Likewise, the people of innovation hide themselves within the people and when they are able, they convey what they desire.

The Heart That is Veiled From Its Reality – [O Allaah! Do Not Abandon Us to Ourselves..Aameen]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Glorified be Allaah! How many a heart is decayed yet its owner is unaware of it! How many [a person] is put to trial by the praises he [receives] from the people, deceived by Allaah’s concealment of his [sins, shortcomings etc] and being gradually led to destruction through the blessings Allaah bestowed upon him [i.e. he utilizes those blessings to commit sins]. All these affairs are a punishment and humiliation, whilst the ignorant one thinks that it is nobility.

A Destructive Trait of Those Who Crave For Leadership – By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Its seekers hasten to obtain it to achieve their goals, (such as) exaltedness in the earth; servitude of the hearts to them; inclination towards them; aiding them in all their goals, whilst they are exalted above them and conquered.  This pursuit of leadership brings about corruption-which none can enumerate except Allaah- such as rebellion, envy, transgression, enmity, oppression, trials, being ardent in defending oneself at the expense of violating the rights of Allaah, exalting those despised by Allaah and belittling those honoured by Allaah.

How to Recant One’s Mistake (s)- By Shaikh Muhammad Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

He [i.e. the person] recants from the mistake by way of speech just as he did when he uttered the mistake. He says: ”I committed a mistake.” If the mistake is made in the presence of a gathering of people, he informs them in the same gathering that he made a mistake. If the mistake was made in writing, he writes and corrects the mistakes just as he did when he committed the mistake. If the mistake was transmitted through recorded speech in the form of audio, he corrects the mistake in a like manner. This will not harm the person who committed the mistake.

By Allaah this will make the people have more trust in you because you have not feared them; rather you fear Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic). That is because if you leave the people to carry your mistakes, they will be misguided due to you and you will carry your sins. We ask Allaah for pardon and forgiveness.

You know how, when and where you made the mistake; therefore rectify it in a like manner. If the mistake was committed in a gathering similar to this one, then come tomorrow and say: ”I made a mistake in such and such;” If it was in a lesson, you say: ”I made a mistake in such and such.” If the mistake was recorded by way audio, then rectify it in a like manner. If the mistake was publicized, then rectify it in a like manner.

This will absolve you from blame and the people will recognize your truthfulness. In-Shaa-Allaah this will raise your status in the presence of Allaah, and then Allaah will raise your status in the sight of the people. We ask Allaah to grant us this.
