Gradual Decadence of The Heart Due To Sins Until It Becomes An Ally of Shaytaan- By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: When sins become numerous, it has a severe effect on the heart of the [sinner], and thus the sinner deviates [from right conduct], just as some of the Salaf stated regarding the statement of Allaah  [The Most High]: [كَلَّا‌ۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِہِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ – Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn]- Meaning: Sins in addition to other sins. Al-Hasan [rahimahullaah] said: It is sins in addition to other sins until the heart becomes blinded. And the basis of this is that the heart becomes decayed due disobedience, and when this disobedience increases, the decadence becomes more severe until the heart is covered in sins and evil deeds; then it becomes more severe until the heart is severely afflicted- locked and sealed [in sins and disobedience]. When this happens to the heart after it was in a state of guidance and clear-sightedness, it deteriorates severely and thus its noble state alternates to the lowest level of [misbehaviour, disobedience etc.]. Then its enemy [i.e. shaytaan] becomes its close ally and leads it wherever he wants.

The Person Who Is Unaware of The State of His Corrupt and Diseased Heart | Imaam Ibn ul-Qayyim (Rahimahullah)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

“Glorified be Allaah! How many a heart is decayed yet its owner is unaware of it! How many a [person] is put to trial by the praises he [receives] from the people, deceived by Allaah’s concealment of his [sins, shortcomings etc] and being gradually led to destruction through the blessings Allaah bestowed upon him [i.e. he utilizes those blessings to commit sins and feels safe from punishment]! All these affairs are a punishment and humiliation, whilst the ignorant one thinks that it is nobility.”

The One Who Praises An Innovator Is One of Two People- By Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said:

It is not permissible to exalt and praise the innovators even if they have some truth with them. That is because raising and praising them will spread their bidah and place them amongst the sincere ones-those who are taken as examples amongst distinguished men of this Ummah. The Salaf warned against having trust for the innovators, [warned against] praising them and their gatherings. In this regard, Asad Ibn Musa [rahimahullaah] wrote: ‘’Beware of being a brother of the innovator [by association] or a companion of his, or one whom you sit with; for indeed it has been narrated that ‘Whoever sits with a person of innovation has left the protection of Allaah and is entrusted to himself’.

The innovators must be warned against and shunned even if they have some truth with them. Indeed, the most astray are not devoid of some truth, but as long as they have with them innovation, opposition and sinful views, it is not permissible to praise and exalt them. It is impermissible to not have an objection against their innovation because this spreads bidah, belittles the Sunnah and by way of this the innovator will emerge and become a guide for the Ummah.

As for giving consideration [to the fact] that the innovator has some truth, this does not justify praising him. This is -to a far greater extent- against what is of overriding benefit and it is known- in relation to a principle in the religion- that preventing harm takes precedence over seeking that which is of benefit. And with regards to having hatred for the innovator, the harm that is prevented from the Ummah is weightier than the benefit possessed by the innovator. And had we adhered to this concept [i.e. praising an innovator because he has some truth with him], then no one would have been judged to be misguided and declared an innovator. That is because there is not an innovator except that he has some truth and adherence to the Sunnah. The innovator [may] neither be a disbeliever nor be in opposition to all the Islamic legislation; rather he is either an innovator in some or most of the affairs. [Ref 1] However, if the innovation is particularly related to affairs of Creed and Methodology, then the affair is dangerous indeed because it will become an example [to be followed], innovation will spread and the innovators will become active in spreading their innovation.

So, this person who praises innovators and makes their affair obscure to the people -due to some truth they have – is one of two [people]: He is either one ignorant of the methodology of the pious predecessors and their stance against the innovators, and it is neither permissible for this ignorant one to speak nor is it permissible for the Muslims to listen to him; or he is one who has an objection to the truth because he knows the danger of innovation and the innovators, but he wishes to spread innovations. Nevertheless, this is a dangerous affair and it is not permissible to be lackadaisical with regards to innovation and its people, whatever that may be.

Ref 1: Bidah Al-Mukaffirah and Bidah Al-Mufassiqah:

Bidah Al-Mukaffirah: It is the Bidah that is tantamount to disbelief. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali (may Allaah preserve him) was asked whether there is a difference between Bidah Al-Mukaffirah and Bidah Al-Mufassiqah; so Shaikh said that there is Bidah Mukaffirah, such as rejecting the Ruyah (i.e. denying that the believers will see Allaah in the afterlife); rejecting Allaah’s Uluww [i.e. denying that Allaah is above his creation –Allaah ascended over the Throne in a way that benefits his majesty)]; invoking other than Allaah; offering slaughtered sacrifice (i.e. animals) to other than Allaah etc. These are affairs of Bidah Al-Mukaffirah (the bidah that is tantamount to disbelief).

But we do not make Takfeer of the people who commit this type of Bidah until we establish the proofs against them. That is because some of them (i.e. the people who fall into these affairs) carry doubts and are far away from the era of Prophethood and its light (i.e. guidance). So they fall into the likes these innovations.

Rejecting the Ruyah is disbelief; rejecting Allaah’s Uluww is disbelief; the saying that the Qur’aan is created is disbelief-major disbelief. But this person, -[who testifies that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allaah, and he prays,  observes fasting, wants paradise and believes in that] -received the doubts of the people of falsehood, so he falls into the likes of these affairs (i.e. these innovations that are tantamount to disbelief). So we say to him: You have fallen into disbelief and the evidence is this and this, and we clarify for him.  So if Allaah grants him Tawfeeq and he returns to the truth, then all praise is due to Allaah. But if not, we declare him a disbeliever after establishing the proofs against him.

As for Bidah Al-Mufassiqah it is other than this (i.e. it is not at the level of that which is tantamount to disbelief)…. [Abridged and paraphrased, see www.rabee.net/ar/questions.php?cat=26&id=484 ]

Normalization of Evil Cannot Distract the People of Taqwa –By the Tawfeeq of Allaah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said:

قُل لَّا يَسْتَوِي الْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الْخَبِيثِ ۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

Say: “Not equal are Al-Khabith (all that is evil and bad as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.) and At-Taiyib (all that is good as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), even though the abundance of Al-Khabith (evil) may please you.” So fear Allah much [(abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], O men of understanding in order that you may be successful.

[Surah Al-Maa’idah Ayah 100]

[قُل -say (O Muhammad)] to mankind- Meaning: Warning against evil and desiring good;

[لَّا يَسْتَوِي الْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ  – Not equal are (all that is evil and bad) and At-Taiyib (all that is good)]- Meaning: Imaan is not equal to kufr; obedience to [Allaah and His Messenger] is not equal to disobedience to [Allaah and His Messenger]; the people of paradise are not equal to the people of hellfire; filthy deeds are not equal to good deeds, and unlawful wealth is not equal to lawful wealth.  [وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الْخَبِيث  – even though the abundance of Al-Khabeeth (evil) may please you (people)]- Meaning: Indeed it will not benefit the person in anything, rather it will harm his religious and worldly affairs.

[فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ – So fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], O men of understanding in order that you may be successful]

An Arrogant Person Is Usually Afflicted With Self-Amazement!

Imaam Ibn Hibbaan (rahimahullaah) said:

A sensible person keeps away from arrogance due to the blameworthy traits it carries. One of them is that he (i.e. the person) does not become haughty towards anyone, except after being amazed with himself and sees that to be superiority.

Is The One Who Died Due To Smoking Guilty of Committing Suicide?!

The questioner asked Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) whether a person who died due to smoking is considered to have committed suicide! So the Shaikh (rahimahullaah) asked the questioner: ‘’Do you think that the smoker smokes in order to die?’’ The questioner said: ‘’No’’.   The Shaikh (rahumahullaah) said to the questioner: ‘’Therefore, he is not one who has committed suicide. There is a difference between the one who intends to kill himself and the one who does not intend to do so. However, when it is the case that the harm of smoking leads to death, then this the strongest  proof that smoking is haraam and I have no doubt that it is haraam, due to the harm it causes to the body, wealth and the manners of a person. Do you not know that the smoker may compromise his honour if he cannot find cigarettes?! Anyway, we do not doubt that smoking is haraam, but we do not say that the smoker is one who has killed himself (i.e. suicide) because he does not intend to kill himself.

One of the causes of being in shaytaan’s captivity and a prisoner of lowly desires

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

Disobedience is the cause being in shaytaan’s captivity and a prisoner of lowly desires. Among its afflictions is that a disobedient person is always in the captivity of his devil, the prison of his lusts and leadership of his desires; so he is a captive and a shackled prisoner. There is neither a captive whose state of affairs is more evil than a captive whose captor is his worst enemy, nor is there a prison more restricted than the prison of desires and shackles that are more restrictive than the shackles of lust; so how can a heart that is a captive and a shackled prisoner follow the path to Allaah and the home of the afterlife? How can he proceed upon a singular track when the heart is shackled and stricken with harm from every angle as result of the (severity) of its shackles? The likeness of the heart is that of a bird; it distances from harm whenever it flies high and surrounded by harm whenever it lands. It is reported in a hadeeth: ‘’Shaytaan is a wolf to a human being.’’ And just as an unprotected sheep in the midst of wolves is quickly destroyed, likewise if there is no protection from Allaah for the slave, it is a must that his wolf will prey on him.

He (i.e. the slave) is protected by Allaah through Taqwaah (fear of Allaah). It (Taqwaah) is a shield and shelter from Allaah between the person and his wolf; just as it is shield against punishment in this life and the afterlife. Whenever the sheep is closer to its shepherd, it is safer from the wolf and whenever it is distanced from the shepherd, it comes closer to being destroyed. So the sheep is more protected when it is closer to the shepherd, for the wolf only takes away the (sheep, cattle etc.) that are distanced and far away from the shepherd.

The basis of this affair is that whenever the heart is distanced from Allaah, then harm upon it is quicker, and whenever it is comes closer to Allaah, it is distanced from harm. Being distanced from Allaah is of various levels and some are more severe than others. Being distanced from (Allaah) through disobedience is greater than being distanced from (Allaah) through thoughtlessness; being distanced from (Allaah) through bidah is greater than being distanced from (Allaah) through disobedience, and being distanced from (Allaah) through hypocrisy and shirk is greater than all of that. One of the evil traits of a Seeker of Leadership

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

The seeker of leadership- even through falsehood- becomes pleased with a statement that contains an exaltation of him, even if it is falsehood.  He becomes angered by a statement that contains a rebuke against him, even if it is truth.  (As for) the believer, he is pleased with a statement of truth whether it is for or against him. And he is angered by a statement of falsehood whether it is for or against him.  That is because Allaah (The Most High) loves truth, truthfulness and justice, and He hates lies and oppression. A Reminder to the Mancunian Mu’mayyi Tale Carrier- That One Hiding Amongst the Salafiyyoon of al-Markazus Salafi to Spread Tales about Salafiyyoon outside Manchester!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Jaabir (radiyallaahu-anhu) said: We were with the Prophet (salallaahu- alayhi- wassallam), when there came a foul smell. The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu alayhi -wassallam) said: “Do you know what that smell is? That is the stench of those who gossip and backbite the believers.”[Ahmad, Al-Adab al-Mufrad]

Indeed, we see some of those who claim Salafiyyah, but are quick to spread tales against the Salafiyyoon. However, they are quick to find excuses for the hizbiyyoon of Masjid As-Sunnah and would even attempt to make the disgraceful claim that the difference between the Salafiyyoon of Al-Markazus Salafi and the staunch Hizbiyyoon of Masjid Sunnah is personal. This behaviour of theirs is nothing else but a disgrace. The likes of these people are known for their lukewarm stances. They sit on the edge of the Salafis, on the fence between us and the hizbiyoon. There is a group in every Markaz and depending on the size of the community their number varies. They usually have good jobs and are professionals even and maybe this they believe entitles them to an opinion on matters of Dawa. You cannot refute them because they are apparently with you. However you cannot rely upon them because they harbour stuff against you in their hearts. When fitna comes they will usually be in the crowd of those attacking you, or at least egging the attackers on. But they will do just about enough to cover their own backs so that they aren’t played with those fitnah makers. They will go about looking for individuals that share a similar mentality, and they will unite in backbiting you with anyone who opposes the masjid and dawa. [End of quote]

Brothers and sisters, these people are filled with rancour and envy because they do not like to see the Salafiyyoon of Manchester and elsewhere being firm. So they invent stories and gossip, just like the ‘gutter-press’ does to cause the hatred and rancour.

As for the Salafiyyoon of Manchester and elsewhere, they have –and all praise is due to Allaah- in every fitnah been upon the truth and remained firm upon it, openly proclaiming it and not fearing the blame of the blamers. This is what grieves these envious cowards in Manchester and elsewhere, which is why they attempt to bring down the Salafees with lies and deception. This is nothing else but the plot of the devil because these tale carriers cannot find any mistakes in Aqeedah or Manhaj or walaa and baraa or positions that need to be held with which they can find fault? They have utterly failed and all they have with them is gossip and envy.

Indeed this tale carrier and gossip-monger is a coward with a weak character and a pathetic personality, who does not have the courage to advise, and nor to identify himself to the ones he seeks to defame. That is why you find that tale-carriers are hardly caught. But one thing that they don’t realize (or do not care about) is that Allaah knows everything about them and tale carrying carries a severe punishment. The Prophet (salallaahu alayhi wassallam) passed some graves and informed his Companions that its inhabitants were being punished due to them not cleaning correctly after urination and spreading tales and gossip-mongering. [Ahmad]

In another narration, the Messenger, (salallaahu alayhi wassallam) said: “When I was taken up into the Heavens, I passed by some people who had copper claws tearing at their faces and chests. I asked, ‘Who are these, O Jibreel?’ He said, ‘They are those who ate the flesh of people, and violated their honour.” [Musnad Ahmad]

So, the likes of this tale carrier and gossip-monger may be able to deceive some people through his evil deeds, but they are not hidden from Allaah, the All-Knowing. And when they are confronted, you find them claiming that they had said nothing or pretend to be ignorant. Then when they return to their pack of devils, after having openly and shamelessly lied, continue with their evil.  All of this, they do, due to their envy, jealousy and desire for status.  This is the behaviour of these tale carriers in Manchester and elsewhere, who still backbite the Salafiyyoon.

We pray that Allaah guides them to their senses and guides them to sincerity. And if they do not return, we pray that distance them from the Salafiyyoon and expose their evil plots. Aameen
