Important words of Shaikh Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him): If you are not going to utter good, then keep silent in order that you may be safe

The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

“Whoever believes in Allaah and the last day then let him utter good or keep silent.”

He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “then let him utter good” and Allaah (The Most High) stated:

[وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا -And speak (always) the truth. (33:70)]

Good speech, such as uttering Subhaanallaah, Laa-ilaaha-ilal-laah, Allaahu-Akbar, recitation of the Qur’aan, remembrance of Allaah, enjoining good and forbidding evil, seeking beneficial knowledge and bringing about reconciliation between the people.  Every speech that is pleasing to Allaah is good. Allaah (The Most High) said:

“There is no good in most of their secret talks save (in) him who orders Sadaqah (charity in Allaahýs Cause), or Ma’roof (Islamic Monotheism and all the good and righteous deeds which Allaah has ordained), or conciliation between mankind, and he who does this, seeking the good Pleasure of Allaah, We shall give him a great reward.”[4:114]

Speech is not very burdensome; it is not like prayer, fasting and Jihaad. Therefore, you are able to utter good whilst sitting or lying down, or whilst riding or walking.  The body gets tired through performance of acts of obedience, but the tongue does not get tired of speaking, so pre-occupy it with what benefits you.

And He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Or keep silent.”

If you are not going to utter good, then keep silent in order that you may be safe.  You will be safe if you keep silent. If you speak and it is (something) good, you will be profited. And if (the speech) is evil, you will be ruined.

And most of that which is (uttered) by people, especially in a state of heedlessness and weak imaan is either evil speech or excess speech in which there is no benefit, and that why the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

“Indeed, Allaah hates three things for you; “Qeel Wal Qaal, wasting wealth and asking too many questions.”

[4] Fataawaa Regarding Women: The situation of an unmarried woman who enters paradise, or a married woman whose husband did not enter paradise- By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

Question:

If a woman is from the people of paradise but she was not married in the worldly life, or she was married but her husband did not enter paradise, then what will be her situation?

Answer:

The answer to this is taken from the general statement of Allaah (The Most High):

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ

نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ

Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for. An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [41:31-32]

And from the statement of Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

”(There will be) therein all that the one’s inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever.” [43:71]

If a woman is from the people of paradise but she was not married (in the worldly life) or her husband is not from the people of paradise, then when she enters paradise there will be men from the people of paradise who were not married (in the worldly wife). They (i.e. those men of paradise who were not married in the worldly life) will have wives from the ‘Hoorul Ain’ and wives from the people of the worldly life if they wish.

Likewise if a woman did not have a husband in the worldly life, or she had a husband but he did not enter paradise, then what she desires has to be available if she wishes to marry due to the general statement of Allaah [i.e. in soorah 41, aayaat 31-32].

However, I do not have a specific text with me at present in this affair and with Allaah is knowledge of the affair. [Majmoo Fataawaa 2/52]

[3] Fataawaa Regarding Women: The men will have the Hoorul Ain in Jannah; but what will the women have? [By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

Question: It is stated (in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah) that the men will have the Hoorul Ain in Jannah, so what will the women have?

Answer:

Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) stated concerning the enjoyment the people of Paradise will (receive):

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ

نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ

Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for. An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [41:31-32]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

(There will be) therein all that the one’s inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever. [43:71]

It is well known that marriage is the greatest thing that the souls desire and it will be present in Jannah for the people of Jannah-men and women. In Jannah, Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) will give a woman in marriage to the husband who was her husband in the worldly life, as Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) said:

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

“Our Lord! And make them enter the ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. [40:8]

The Consequences of Mankind’s Actions On Earth-By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) said:

ظَهَرَ ٱلۡفَسَادُ فِى ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ أَيۡدِى ٱلنَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِى عَمِلُواْ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ

‘’Evil (sins and disobedience of Allah, etc.) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned.’’ (Soorah Ruum; Ayah:41]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim(rahimahullaah) said:

This ayah was revealed regarding the state of affairs of the world and the relationship between it and the events that take place. You see how the occurrence of those evil actions and defects (of the people) affects the harvest, vegetation and the animals in every era; and the manner in which those evil (affairs) necessitate other evils. And whenever the people initiate oppression and wickedness, their Lord (Tabaaraka Wata-Aalaa) brings about from those evils and defects (of theirs) deficiencies and harm in their nourishments, fruits, atmospheres, bodies, physical natures, images, outward appearances and manners, as a justification for their deeds, acts of oppression and wickedness.

Indeed, the grains of wheat and other than them used to be bigger than what they are today, just as the blessing in them was greater. Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) narrated with his chain of transmission that a packet was found in one of the treasury departments of Bani Umayyah in which there was a grain nearly the size of a date.  This grain was grown and harvested during an era of justice.

The majority of the illnesses and the general evil affairs are remnants of the punishment upon the people of the previous nations; then there remained from that what remains, as a surprise punishment against those who remain upon the (evil) deeds of those previous nations. This is a just judgement and just decree.  And indeed the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) has indicated to this in his statement concerning plagues, that ”it is a remnant of an affliction or punishment sent by Allaah to the Children of Israa’eel.’’

I am free (or liberated) and I am free to do what I want! [Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen responds]

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) was asked about the statement of a person who says:

I am free (or liberated)”

Answer

If a liberated/free man says this and intends by it freedom from slavery to the creation, then yes he is free from slavery to the creation. However, if he intends by this that he is liberated/ freed from servitude to Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic), then indeed he has erred in his understanding of servitude and he does not understand the meaning of freedom/liberation; because servitude to other than Allaah is bondage. As for the servitude of a person to Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic), then this is real freedom; because if he does not humble himself to Allaah, he will humble himself to other than Allaah. So he deceives himself when he says that he is free/liberated, meaning: he is liberated from obedience to Allaah and does not fulfil (such obedience to Him).

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) was asked about the statement of a disobedient person, who when met with disapproval (due to sins committed he would say):

I am free with regards to what I carry out of my own actions.”

Answer

This is an error; we say: You are not free to disobey Allaah, rather if you disobey Allaah, then indeed you have violated the slavery which you claim to be upon of obedience, humility and submission to Allaah;  and you have entered into the bondage of Shaytaan and desires.

No sensible person would desire this for himself/herself

Allaah (The Most High) said:

فَلْيَحْذَرِ الَّذِينَ يُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ أَن تُصِيبَهُمْ فِتْنَةٌ أَوْ يُصِيبَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

And let those who oppose the Messenger’s (Muhammad) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements, etc.) beware, lest some Fitnah befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them. [24:63]

Reminders from Imaam Ibnul Jawzi (rahimahullaah)

There are three statements of the scholars regarding the Fit’nah intended in this Ayah: Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu-anhumaa) said that this fitnah is ‘misguidance’; Mujaahid (rahimahullaah) said that it is ‘tribulation in the worldly life’; Muqaatil and As-Sadiy (rahimahumallaah) said that it is ‘disbelief’

And there are two statements of the scholars regarding the punishment intended in this Ayah: It is either the presence of ‘killing in this worldly life’ or punishment in the hell fire in the afterlife.

Musa (alayhis-salaam) advised them with a great affair!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

And Musa (Moses) said: “O my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will).” They said: “In Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing) (i.e. do not make them overpower us). And save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk.” [10:84-86]

Reminders from Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah)

They asked their Lord not to put them to trial-neither by way of being placed under the authority of a people who would then put them to trial, nor to be defeated and then they fall into trial, saying: Had we been upon the truth we would not have been defeated.

Abridged and paraphrased. See Tayseer Al-Kareem Ar-Rahmaan Fee Tafseer kalaam al-Mannaan of Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah)

They are put to trial once or twice every year!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

أَوَلَا يَرَوۡنَ أَنَّهُمۡ يُفۡتَنُونَ فِى ڪُلِّ عَامٍ۬ مَّرَّةً أَوۡ مَرَّتَيۡنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمۡ يَذَّڪَّرُونَ

See they not that they are tried once or twice every year? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it).’’ [9:126]

Reminders from Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah)

(Put to trial) by way of calamities and diseases and (by way of the) the divine laws. However, they neither turn in repentance nor (abandon) what they are upon of evil, nor do they learn a lesson with regards to what would benefit them, so that they may act upon it. Nor (do they learn a lesson with regards to) what is harmful to them, so that they may abandon it.

Allaah (The Most High) put them to the test—and this is Allaah’s way with all the nations— through poverty (or loss in wealth), loss of health and calamities and through commands and prohibitions, so that they might turn to Allaah; but they neither repent nor learn a lesson.

In this Ayah is proof that Imaan increases and decreases and that it is obligated upon the believer to examine his Imaan- paying close attention to it, improving and making it grow (through the means that Allaah has prescribed for its improvement and growth), so that it constantly rises.

They deserved disgrace in this life and the next due to their filthy and evil deeds!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

O Messenger (Muhammad)! Let not those who hurry to fall into disbelief grieve you, of such who say: “We believe” with their mouths but their hearts have no faith.

And of the Yahood are men who listen much and eagerly to lies – listen to others who have not come to you [those of their leaders who substitute the Torah (1)]

They change the words from their places- [declaring the halaal to be haraam and the haraam to be halaal (2)]; they say, “If you are given this (ruling), take it; but if you are not given this, then beware!”

And whomsoever Allah wants to put in Al-Fitnah- [misguidance or punishment, or exposed; (3) because of his rejecting the Faith (4)] you can do nothing for him against Allah- [you cannot save him (5)]

Those are the ones [Yahood and Munaafiqoon (6)] whose hearts Allaah does not want to purify (from disbelief and hypocrisy); for them there is a disgrace in this world- [Allaah informed the Prophet of what was hidden in the hearts of the Munaafiqoon as well as the lies of the Yahood in this worldly life (6)], and for them (there) is a great torment in the Hereafter.
