A lofty benefit and ruling in Soorah Al-Hujuraat—Imaam Abdul-Azeez Bin Baaz

Imaam Abdul-Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said:

”In this great soorah there are lofty benefits and rulings. The Muslims are greatly in need of understanding and being conscious of it, and they are to take benefit from it. In the first part, there is a warning against putting oneself forward before Allaah and His Messenger, and that which is incumbent upon the people of Eemaan is that they should be followers and not innovators, and that they do not put themselves forward before Allaah and His Messenger.” [Source: Al-fawaa-id Min Ad-Durar Al-Baaziyyah: page391: vol: 4]

Another Important Supplication

”O The Ever-Living! O The One Who sustains and protects all that exists! By Your mercy I seek aid and deliverance, rectify all my affairs for me and do not leave me to myself, even for the blink of an eye.” [ صحيح الترغيب والترهيب 1/273]-[Number 654]

Shaikh Muhammad Bin Ibraaheem Aala Shaikh (rahimahullaah) said: It is neither obligated nor permissible to depend on oneself, as reported in the hadeeth (i.e. the supplication a believer makes): [فَلاَ تَكِلْنِى إِلَى نَفْسِى طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ ] ”Do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.” [Majmoo al-Fataawaa of Shaikh Muhammad Bin Ibraaheem 1/70]

If one of you knew what he has in …..Umar Ibnul Khattaab (radiyallaahu-anhu)

Umar Ibnul Khattaab (radiyallaahu-anhu) said:

”If one of you knew what he has in saying to his (Muslim) brother, [جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا], you would have increased in saying it to one another.” [Musannaf Ibn Abee Shaybah 26519]

The Faqeeh

Indeed, the Salaf did not apply the term Faqeeh, except to the one whose knowledge was accompanied by action; as when Sad bin Ibraaheem was asked, ”who amongst the people of Madeenah was most superior in understanding”, he said, ”the one with more Taqwah”[Al-Haqeeqatus Shar-iyyah Fee Tafseeril Qurýaanil Adheem Was-sunnatin Nabawiyyah’ of Shaaikh Muhammad Baazmool. From the greatest affairs of reliance and trust in Allaah—Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) stated:

”The greatest of reliance and trust in Allaah, is reliance and trust in Allah (whilst) seeking (His) guidance, actualizing Tawheed, following the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and striving against the people of falsehood.  This is the reliance of the Messengers and (that of their true) followers.” [Al-Fawaa-id. [2] The difference between legislated and innovated acts of worship

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said: [1]

The (affairs of) worship through which (one) seeks to get close to Allaah (The Most High)–from them are those beloved and pleasing to Allaah and His Messenger, whether obligatory or recommended; as reported in Saheeh (Al-Bukhaari) that Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallaam) said that Allaah (The blessed and Exalted) said:

”And the most beloved things which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawaafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, then I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My Protection (Refuge), I will protect him.”[2] [End of quote from Shaikhul Islaam]

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Concerning the meaning of the statement: ”And My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawaafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, then I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks…”

This statement is understood to mean that when a person becomes a Wali (close friend) of Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic), then when the command of Allaah is mentioned with regards to what Allaah loves or hates, he protects his hearing from what Allaah hates and lends an ear to what Allaah loves.   He also does the same with regards to what he looks at; what he grips with his hand and where he walks to. Or Allaah guides him, so that he only looks at what Allaah loves; listens to what Allaah loves and walks towards what Allaah loves.[3]

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Quote continues from Shaikhul Islaam….

And it is well known with regards to the Salah that (some) of it obligatory, such as the five daily prayers; and (some) of it is optional, such as the Qiyaamul Layl (i.e. Tahajjud prayer). Also with regards to fasting, (some) of it is obligatory and that is the fasting of the month of Ramadhaan, and (some) of it is optional, such as fasting three days every month. Also travelling to the Masjid Al-Haraam (i.e. The kabah) is obligatory; and travelling to the other two masjids–Masjid of the Prophet and Masjid Al-Aqsaa–is recommended.  Also with regards to charity, (some) of it is an obligation and (some) of it is recommended, and it is what is the surplus beyond (what is) needed, as Allaah (The Most High) said:  [وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ] ‘’And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: “That which is beyond (what they) need.”  [4]

And it has been reported in an authentic Hadeeth in which the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallaam) said:  ”O son of Adam! It is better for you if you spend (your) surplus (wealth), but if you withhold it, it is evil for you. And there is no blame (on you) if you withhold the surplus in accordance with a need, in order to spend on yourself and poor relatives. The upper hand (i.e. the one who spends) is better than the lower hand (i.e. the one who asks without a need as opposed to the self-sufficient one); and begin (charity) with your dependents.” [5]

This is the complete Sunnah–Imaam Ibn Rajab (rahimahullaah)

Imaam Ibn Rajab (rahimahullaah) said:

He (sallal-laahu – alayhi – wasallam) commanded that during splitting and differing, one should adhere to his Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa after him. The Sunnah is the path that is adhered to, and that includes adhering to what he (sallal-laahu-alayhi wasallam) and his rightly guided khulafaa were upon with regards to creed, actions and statements.  This is the complete Sunnah.  [Jaami-ul uloom wal hikam page:249]

What is [الوسطية] [Al-Wasatiyyah (The Middle Path)?

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Sheikh Muhammad Bin Saalim Baazmool (may Allaah preserve him) stated:

It is widely known with some of the people, that Al [ٱلۡوُسۡطَ] is only that which occupies the middle position between two things, and they do not call to attention the other meaning of this word, as mentioned in the Magnificent Qur’aan and the Prophetic Sunnah. [ٱلۡوُسۡطَ ]  in the Islamic legislation is that which is ‘Superior.’ [Allaah (The Most High)] said: said:

حَـٰفِظُواْ عَلَى ٱلصَّلَوَٲتِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ٱلۡوُسۡطَىٰ

”Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawaat (the prayers) especially the Salatul Wustaa (the Asr prayer)” [2:238]

[ٱلۡوُسۡطَىٰ]; meaning: the best, more excellent etc.

And [Allaah (The Most High)] said:

مِنۡ أَوۡسَطِ مَا تُطۡعِمُونَ أَهۡلِيكُمۡ

[مِنۡ أَوۡسَطِ ] [On the scale] of the average of that which you feed your own families” [5:89]

That is: The best and most just.

And [Allaah (The Most High)] said:

وَكَذَٲلِكَ جَعَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ أُمَّةً۬ وَسَطً۬ا

”Thus We have made you [أُمَّةً۬ وَسَطً۬ا] [2:143]

That is: the best and most upright.

The intent behind all this is to understand that [الوسطية] in the context of the Religion is that which is ‘best’ and the ‘Justice of the Religion’—(and it is) to follow that which Allaah (The Mighty and Magestic) has commanded and keep away and refrain from that which He has forbidden.  As for the explanation of [الوسطية] in the religious context with a meaning other than this meaning; then it is (something founded upon a foundation) ready to crumble down. It is a mirage which the thirsty one considers water (i.e. an illusion). [Source: Al Haqeeqatus Shar-iyyah Fee Tafseeril Qur’aanil Adheem Was-Sunnatin Nabawiyyati page: 186]

Rebellion against the Rulers–O Muslims! Ponder Upon This Statement of Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) stated:

He [i.e. the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi-wasallam)] legislated for his Ummah the obligation of disapproving evil, in order that by disapproving it, the good beloved to Allaah and His Messenger is reached. And if disapproving evil will necessitate what is eviler and more hateful to Allaah and His Messenger, then it is not permitted to disapprove of it, even if Allaah hates it and loathes those who carry out (such evil). And this is similar to the disapproval towards the kings and those in charge of the affairs—by rebelling against them; for indeed it is the foundation of every evil and trial till the end of time.

And indeed the Sahaabah sought the permission of Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) to kill those rulers who delay the prayer from its prescribed time, and they said: ‘’Should we not kill them?’’”So he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “’’No; as long as they establish the prayer.’’”He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-sallam) said: “Whoever sees something from his ruler which he hates, then let him exercise patience and not remove the hand of obedience to the ruler.’’”

And whoever ponders upon the greatest and smallest trials that have taken its toll on Islaam, he/she will observe that (such trials occur) as a result of neglecting this principle and (due to) the absence of exercising patience in [the face of] evil.  So he (i.e. the person) seeks to stop it and what is of greater evil emanates from it.

And indeed, Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu-alayhi- wasallam) saw the gravest evils in Makkah and he was unable to stop them; rather when Allaah (enabled the Muslims to) conquer Makkah and it became an Islamic Land,  he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was determined to alter the Ka’bah and rebuild it based on the foundations it was built upon by Ibraaheem (alayhis-salaam).  However, he refrained from (it) even though he had the ability to do so, fearing that that which is greater (disadvantage) will ensue due to the Quraish not been able to bear it; because they were new  converts to Islaam and had abandoned disbelief not so long. And because of this (reason), he (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) did not permit disapproval towards the rulers by way of using one’s hand (i.e. through fighting) due to what may result from it—affairs of greater (evil) that may come about thereafter.
