Praising Innovators – Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadi

The questioner says—may Allah reward you with good:

‘There is a person who praises the people of innovation and rejects the speech of the scholars of the Sunnah concerning them, and he also defames the scholars of the Sunnah and so on.’

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Hadi:

“Whoever praises the people of innovation, without doubt, he is from the innovators; rather, he is without doubt from their callers. The people asked our Shaykh—may Allah’s Mercy be upon him—Shaykh ‘Abd al-’Aziz ibn Baz, during the lesson of the explanation of the book Fadl al-Islam is the person who praises the people of innovation considered from them. He said, yes, there is no doubt that he is from them; rather, he is from their callers. This is available in his voice and in writing, all praise is for Allah, and there is no doubt concerning this.”

[2] The Stance of the Salaf Towards Ahlul Bidah

Abu Qilaabah said: “Neither sit with the people of desires (i.e. people of bidah) nor argue with them, for indeed I do not feel secure that they will plunge you in their misguidance, or bewilder you regarding what (i.e. the truth) you already know.”

[Al-Ibaanah369]

Salaam bin Abee Mutee said: A man from the people of bidah said to Ayyoub (i.e. Ayyoob As-Sakhtiyaanee): ‘O Abu- Bakr! Can I ask you about a word? [He (i.e. Salaam)] said: “So I saw him (i.e. Ayyoub) gesturing with his hand, whilst saying: ”’Not even half a word; not even half a word!”

[Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah 482]

[2] What type of Mujaddid was Sayyid Qutb?!

Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhalee (may Allaah preserve him) stated:

Indeed the fitna of this man and those with him is the fitna of this era. It is the severest fitna in this era because it confounds (truth with falsehood through the true) Salafi methodology.  Beware of them O brothers; they have affairs of deception, adulteration, plotting and trickery, which are not known except to Allaah. They preoccupy themselves mostly with (setting up) traps for the Salafi youth.  They neither give concern to inviting the Christians and Jews nor the rawaafid (shiites) and the soofees to the true methodology; and why is this (the case)? Because the one who is deprived of (something) cannot give it (to others).

So (what) they mostly preoccupy themselves with is to corrupt the righteous people and those whom Allaah has guided to the way of the Lord of the Worlds.  Most of (what) they preoccupy themselves with at present in the world is to set traps for the Salafi youth, and they wear a counterfeit Salafi gown for it; so that they are able to tear it apart and distance it from this (true) methodology.

They utilize various ways to defame the scholars of this (true) methodology and to defame this methodology itself–and Allaah’s Protection is sought! And they brandish the methodology of Sayyid Qutb even though within it there is insult to the prophets; and even though within it there is takfeer against some of the Sahaabah; and even though within it there is takfeer against the ummah…. (Even though within it there are) creeds of misguidance—the creed of hulool, wahdatul wujood, the nullification of Allaah’s Attributes and the (innovated speech that the) Qur’aan is created.  All these affairs (of misguidance committed by Sayyid Qutb)–in their view–does not negate revival; for according to them he is a Mujaddid (reviver)!!
We say: Yes, he is a Mujaddid; but he is a Mujaddid of every major bidah, (such as) the school of thought of the khawaarij, the rawaafid (shiites), the murjia, the jabariyyah and the soofiyyah. He revived all of them; and between us (Salafis) and them (i.e. the followers of Sayyid Qutb) are the books of Sayyid Qutb and his writings (as a witness).

According to them this is the Mujaddid and an Imaam for whose sake they (establish) alliances (with those who agree with them) and enmity (towards those who oppose them). So what calamity upon Islaam can be more severe than this calamity?

[1] Intro: The difference between legislated and innovated acts of worship

 بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

Indeed, there has been much confusion in this subject matter just as it is the case in the subject matter of halaal and haraam.  Indeed a group of people make permissible some of the things which Allaah has declared impermissible and others declare impermissible some of those things which Allaah has made permissible.  Likewise some people innovate acts of worship that have not been legislated by Allaah; rather He (The Most High) prohibited them.

The foundation of the religion of Islaam is that the permissible affairs are those that Allaah and His Messenger have made permissible, and the impermissible affairs are those that Allaah and His Messenger have made impermissible.  It is not allowed (or befitting) for anyone to leave the straight path which Allaah sent His Messenger with.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَأَنَّ هَـٰذَا صِرَٲطِى مُسۡتَقِيمً۬ا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ‌ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمۡ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكُمۡ وَصَّٮٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّڪُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ

”And verily, this is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become pious’”[6:153]

Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood (radiyallaahu-anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) drew a line for us and said: ”This is Allaah’s Straight Path.” Then he drew lines to its right and left and then said: ”These are other paths. Upon every one of them there is a devil calling towards it.” Then he recited: وَأَنَّ هَـٰذَا صِرَٲطِى مُسۡتَقِيمً۬ا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ‌ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمۡ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ‌  ”Indeed this is My Straight Path, so follow it. And do not follow other paths; they will separate you from His Path.” [Hadeeth reported by Imaam Ahmad  in Al-Musnad 4437]

Indeed Allaah has mentioned in Soorah Al-An’aam, Soorah Al-A’raaf and other them regarding the deeds the idol worshipers were rebuked for, when they made impermissible the things that Allaah (The Most High) have not declared impermissible, such as the Baahirah (i.e. a she-camel whose milk was spared for the idols and nobody was allowed to milk it) and the Saa’ibah (a she-camel let loose for free pasture for their false gods, e.g. idols, etc., and nothing was allowed to be carried on it).   They (also) made permissible those (deeds) which Allaah made impermissible, such as the killing of their children, and they instituted a religion which Allaah did not allow.   Allaah (The Most High) said:

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شُرَڪَـٰٓؤُاْ شَرَعُواْ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمۡ يَأۡذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ

”Or have they partners with Allah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allah has not allowed.” [42:21]

And there were impermissible affairs which they established as acts of worship, such as shirk, and lewd behaviour, such as Tawaaf around the Kabah, whilst being naked.

Ruling on Chain Messages – Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzan was asked about chain messages which are sent telling people to send peace and blessings upon the Prophet  -May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him- and forwarding it to (for eg) 10 people so as to attain good deeds by way of it.

The Shaykh -may Allah preserve him- answered: This is an innovation, this is an innovation; the origin of sending peace and blessings upon the prophet is legistlated and is a good thing, however specifying with sending it to “x” amount of people is an innovation with no evidence supporting it.
