[3] Allaah’s Various Types of Punishments and Their Causes—Shaikh Abdullaah Ibn Salfeeq Adh-Dhufayree (may Allaah preserve him)

Following desires (as a source of punishment upon a person)

O slaves of Allaah! Observe this (affair) regarding the one who abandons the Sunnah and the way of the Salaf; you will find him preoccupied in deviation and innovation (in religious affairs) until he reaches -by way of this affair- a state of breaking point in the religion, or excommunicating Muslims (unlawfully) and shedding the blood of the Muslims; (1) and similar to this (also) are the people of disobedience and major sins, until their hearts become like an upturned vessel. (Hearts, which) neither recognize good nor reject evil. (2) And acts of disobedience stimulate one another until it becomes that–as you witness today– committing acts of disobedience is what many people are accustomed with and obedience to Allaah becomes something strange. (3) And from the most dangerous of that is what you witness with regards to the Salaah and its strict observance; for how many people and households have become negligent regarding it!

————————————————————————-

(1) Footnotes as it appeared in the Booklet: Imaam Barbahaari (rahimahullaah said: ”Beware of small innovations because they grow until they become large. This is the case with every innovation introduced in this Ummah. It began as something small, bearing resemblance to the truth which is why those who entered it were misled and then were unable to leave it. So it grew and became the religion which they followed and thus deviated from the Straight Path and left Islaam.”

Translator’s notes: [Note: Bidah is of two types: Bidah that exits a person from the fold of Islaam and Bidah that does not exit a person from the fold of Islaam. (See the comments of Shaikh Ahmad Najmi (rahimahullaah) in his explanation of this above statement of Imaam Barbahaaree in Publisher: Daarul Minhaaj. 1st Ed 2009)]

(2) Footnotes as it appeared in the Booklet: The Hadeeth of Hudhaifah: He (radiyallaahu-anhu) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) saying: The Fitan (trials and temptations) will be presented to hearts (of the people) as reed mat is woven stick by stick. So any heart which is absorbed by them will have a black mark put into it, but any heart which rejects them will have a white mark put in it. The result is that there will become two types of hearts: one white like a white stone which will not be harmed by any turmoil or temptation, so long as the heavens and the earth endure; and the other black and dust-coloured like a vessel which is upturned—(Hearts that will) neither recognize what is good nor reject what is evil, but being absorbed with desires. [Saheeh Muslim. Kitaab Al-Imaan. Chapter 65: Islaam began as something strange and it will return as something strange. Hadeeth Number: 144]

(3)Footnotes as it appeared in the Booklet: This is an evidence of the testification regarding Islaam’s strangeness in this era, the decrease of knowledge and ignorance regarding that which Allaah sent His Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) with, until good has become evil in the eyes of many of the people and evil has become good; and the Sunnah has become bidah (in their eyes of the people) and bidah has become Sunnah. This (state of affairs) is a testification to the hadeeth reported by Bukhaari Number 80 and Muslim 2671 from Anas (radiyallaahu-anhu), who said: The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: From among the portents of the Hour are (the following): Religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of Religious learned men); Ignorance (of Religion) will prevail; Drinking of Alcoholic drinks (will be very common) and there will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.

Fatwa by Imaam Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah): Going to bed without ablution or Ghusl after sexual relations

Question:

What is the ruling on the one who sleeps, whilst he is in a state of Janaabah and he neither performed ablution nor Ghusl?

Answer:

It is Makrooh; the Sunnah (is that) he performs ablution. The least is that he performs ablution. The Sunnah is that he performs ablution and then sleep. When the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) used approached his wives (i.e. after sexual relations), he used to wash his private parts and then go to sleep. Perhaps take a bath before that; for if (you) take a bath, then it is more perfect. And if you sleep and take a bath late at night, then there is no harm; just as the Prophet (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) did.

As for going to sleep without ablution or Ghusl, then this is Makrooh. Indeed Umar (radiyallaahu anhu) asked the Prophet (sallal laahu alayhi wasallam) about that; so he said: “Perform ablution and then sleep.” He (Umar) asked: “Can one of us sleep whilst in a state of Janaabah? He (Prophet) said:  “If you perform ablution, then sleep.” Therefore, the initial affair is that you perform ablution and then go to sleep.’’

So what is intended is that it has been legislated for the believer to perform ablution after fulfilling his need (i.e. after sexual relations with his wife). He washes his private parts and performs ablution (similar to the) ablution of prayer, then he goes to sleep. And if he makes Ghusl, then that is more perfect. The Prophet (sallal’laahu alayhi wasallam) did this (i.e. ablution) and that (i.e. Ghusl). Perhaps he made Ghusl before sleeping or performed ablution and slept; then he (alayhis salaatu was-salaam) made Ghusl late at night.

[1] Lets share these reminders and benefits from Shaikh Ramzaan Al-Haajiriy (may Allaah preserve him)

The Shaikh (may Allaah preserve him) said:

The Prophet (sallal laahu alayhi-sallam) was clear with everyone regarding his call. When he arrived in Madeenah -at that vicinity of Masjid Quba (i.e. which he later built as the first Masjid)- he disseminated the call with its clarity and purity; so it made the hypocrites conceal themselves and they did not receive it except by manifesting Islaam, whilst surely hiding what they hid (i.e. disbelief in their hearts). This is likewise the habit of the people of falsehood; they do not make apparent what they (truly) believe. As for the people of clarity, they are people who openly proclaim (what they truly believe); so beware of the people who hide.

[2] Allaah’s Various Types of Punishments and Their Causes—Shaikh Abdullaah Ibn Salfeeq Adh-Dhufayree (may Allaah preserve him)

The punishments for sins and disobedience do vary depending on the level of the offences. Sometimes the punishment occurs in one’s religion and it is the greatest of punishments. It is (when) the act of disobedience comes between a person and Imaan (1) and between him and Husnul khaatimah. (2)

If every single one of us scrutinizes himself attentively, he will find that whenever he commits a sin and did not repent from it by way of (changing his state); indeed he will find that he did commit a greater sin than it previously. And the attestation to this is His (i.e. Allaah’s) statement: [فَلَمَّا زَاغُوٓاْ أَزَاغَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمۡ‌ۚ] ”So when they turned away (from the Path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the Right Path).” [ 61:5]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفۡـِٔدَتَہُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرَهُمۡ كَمَا لَمۡ يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِهِۦۤ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ۬ وَنَذَرُهُمۡ فِى طُغۡيَـٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ] ”And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away (from guidance), as they refused to believe therein for the first time, and We shall leave them in their trespass to wander blindly.” [6:110]

And Allaah (The Most High) said: [فَأَعۡقَبَہُمۡ نِفَاقً۬ا فِى قُلُوبِہِمۡ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يَلۡقَوۡنَهُ ۥ بِمَآ أَخۡلَفُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا ڪَانُواْ يَكۡذِبُونَ] ”So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies.” [9:77]

 Translator’s Notes:

[1] An act of disobedience comes between a person and Imaan: Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah) stated about the Ayah:

[وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ ] ‘’And know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart.”  Therefore, beware of rejecting the command of Allaah when it comes to you at first, lest He comes between you and it [i.e. Allaah (The Most High) prevents you from guidance as a just recompense) when you turn away from it and your hearts (turn) in opposition– for indeed Allaah intervenes between a person and his heart—Allaah causes it (i.e. the heart of the person) to change and turns it in any direction as He wills (i.e. as a just recompense for the one who rejects or turns away from the truth). Therefore, a slave (i.e. the Muslim) should increase in (uttering) the statement (i.e. the Du’aa): ”O turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon your Religion; O turner of the hearts, turn my heart towards obedience to You.” [For further details, see [For further details, see Tayseer Al-Kareem Ar-Rahmaan Fee Tafseer Kalaam Al-Mannaan] [Also see Tafseer of this ayah in Al-Fawaa-id of Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) pages 140-144. Publishers: Maktabah Ar-Rushd. 3rd edition 2005]

[2]Husnul Khaatimah: (i.e. A Muslim leaves this world in obedience to Allaah and in obedience to Allaah’s Messenger; or leaves this world in a state confirmed to be a good end by textual proof. Imaam Albaani (rahimahullaah) stated some of these good signs in Ahkaam Al-Janaa-iz and from them: [a] The one who dies whilst uttering the Shahaadah; [b] The one who dies during the day or night on Friday; [c] Death by way of a plague, drowning etc; [d] The woman who dies during the period of post natal bleeding as a result of giving birth; [e] death by fire; death through defending one’s wealth against a robber etc [See Ahkaam Al-Janaa-iz pages 21-24 –Shaikh Albaani (rahimahullaah) quotes the authentic ahaadeeth to establish these affairs and others]

[1] Allaah’s Various Types of Punishments and Their Causes—Shaikh Abdullaah Ibn Salfeeq Adh-Dhufayree (may Allaah preserve him)

O people! Allaah [The Blessed and Most High] obligated on every Makhlooq (i.e. every Jinn and human) to obey Him and obey His Messenger (i.e. Muhammad) in every era and place. And He forbade (us) from disobeying Him and His Messenger. Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) stated:

[يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ وَلَا تَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ وَأَنتُمۡ تَسۡمَعُونَ ]

‘O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from him (i.e. Messenger Muhammad) while you are hearing.” [8:20]

And Allaah (The Most High) said:

[قُلۡ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ‌ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ   ]

”Say (O Muhammad): “Obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad).” But if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers.” [3:32]

And Allaah (The Most High) said:

”Make not the calling of the Messenger (Muhammad) among you as your calling of one another. Allah knows those of you who slip away under shelter (of some excuse without taking the permission to leave, from the Messenger). And let those who oppose the Messenger’s (Muhammad) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements, etc.) (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.” [Noble Qur’aan 24:63]

In these Noble Verses, Allaah (The Most High) commanded (us) to obey Him and to obey His Messenger, and He made that a cause of happiness in this life and the next. He forbade (us) from disobeying Him and His Messenger, and He made that (i.e. disobedience and sin) a cause of punishment in this worldly life—(a punishment) that can neither be imagined nor perceived. And because of this Allaah ended these two verses with a mention of the severity of His Punishment by way of a Fitnah (trial) and a painful torment upon the one disobeys Him and His Messenger.

Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) said about this Ayah (i.e.24:63): Do you know what Al-Fitna is? Al-Fitnah is Shirk. Perhaps if he (i.e. the person) rejects some of his (i.e. the Prophet’s) saying, something of deviation may enter into his heart, so he becomes destroyed.” [Reported by Ibn Battah in Al-Ibaanah Al-Kubraa 97]

If only we truly knew the severe consequences of opposing the Sunnah of the Messenger!

Narrated Abu Musa (radiyallaahu-anhu): The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, ‘’My example, and the example of what I have sent with is that of a man who came to some people and said, O people! I have seen the enemy’s army with my own eyes and I am a plain warner; so protect yourselves!’ Then a group of his people obeyed him and fled at night proceeding stealthily till they were safe, while another group of them disbelieved him and stayed at their places till morning when the army came upon them and killed and ruined them completely. So this is the example of that person who obeys me and follows that truth which I have brought (the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), and the example of the one who disobeys me and disbelieves the Truth I have brought.

Summarized benefits derived from a short lecture of Shaikh Khaalid Abdur-Rahmaan about the reality of the khawaarij and Daa-ish

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Summarized Benefits from the audio in this link:  https://soundcloud.com/ahlalathar/28-1435-1

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

[1] Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and other scholars made it known that some of the Khawaarij do not make takfeer of Muslims for every type of major sin; rather they only make takfeer for some major sins and not others.

Many of the people say: ”’O brother! These people (i.e. some of the khawaarij at present) do not make takfeer of the Muslims for committing adultery or for consuming alcohol etc…so how can you call them khawaarij?!”

This affair has become confusing for many of the people because they do not know that some of the khawaarij make takfeer on account of a major sin committed by a Muslim and others amongst the khawaarij do not do so. And for this reason they make takfeer of the one who rules by other than what Allaah has revealed, when it is the case that ruling by other than what Allaah has revealed is a major sin from the major sins. [See here detailed explanation of this affair http://www.spubs.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=MNJ05&articleID=MNJ050003&articlePages=1 http://www.spubs.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=MNJ05&articleID=MNJ050018&articlePages=1]

[2] The khawaarij are all agreed upon the fact that the one who does not rule by what Allaah has revealed is a disbeliever. And this is why Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said about the Ayah: [وَمَن لَّمۡ يَحۡكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ – And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the Kafirun (i.e. disbelievers – of a lesser degree as they do not act on Allah’s Laws )—None uses the generality of this ayah as evidence (for takfeer) except the khawaarij. [Again see detailed explanation of this affair here:http://www.spubs.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=MNJ05&articleID=MNJ050003&articlePages=1http://www.spubs.com/sps/sp.cfm?subsecID=MNJ05&articleID=MNJ050018&articlePages=1]

Therefore, it is not a condition that a person has to make takfeer for every type of major sin in order to be regarded a kharaaji.

[3] One should not be deceived by what the khawaarij manifest in exalting the Islamic Law

It is upon the Muslims to refer the affairs back to its people (i.e. to those who are qualified to speak in these affairs and have been entrusted with it). Allaah said:

”When there comes to them some matter touching (public) safety or fear, they make it known (among the people), if only they had referred it to the Messenger or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have understood it from them (directly). Had it not been for the Grace and Mercy of Allah upon you, you would have followed Shaitan (Satan), save a few of you.” [Soorah An-Nisaa. Ayah 83]

When the Muslim is confronted with a fitna or an affair of fear or public safety, he should ask the scholars. At present Al-Allaamah Saaleh al-Fawzaan and others amongst the people of knowledge say that Daa-ish are khawaarij, people of fitnah and evil people. They slaughter the Muslims.

These ones (Daa-ish/ ISIS) believe that whoever does not believe in the pledge given to Abubakr Al-Baghdaadi is a disbeliever, then how can it be said that they do not make takfeer of the Muslims. They say that all the Muslim rulers are disbelievers-this is the creed of Daa-ish. If these people (Daa-ish) are not khawaarij, then who are the khawaarij?! These ones (i.e. Daa-ish) say that whoever does not give consideration to the pledge given to AbuBakr Al-Baghdaadi is a disbeliever and that all the Muslim Rulers are disbelievers!

As for their manifestation and exaltation of the Islamic laws, practices and implementation of the Islamic penal codes; then this is something well known of the khawaarij. The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ”One of you would belittle his own prayer when compared to their prayer and his fasting compared to their fasting….”

Therefore, they manifest an exaltation of the sharee-ah affairs, such as the prayer, the zakat and establishment of the Islamic penal codes, however they are upon a corrupt creed. It is not befitting to be deceived by what they manifest or what is manifested from them with regards to exaltation of the share-ah.

Why did the khawaarij of old fight the Sahaabah (the Companions of the Prophet) when they (i.e. khawaarij) announced an exaltation of the sharee-ah?! They (i.e. khawaarij) said: ‘’There is no judgement except with Allaah.’’ So Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu) said to them: ‘’You have uttered a statement of truth by way of which you intend falsehood.’’ They manifested exaltation of the share-ah and an establishment of it in order to make lawful the shedding of the blood of the Sahaabah. They declared the Sahaabah disbelievers and killed them. They made lawful the shedding of the blood of the Sahaabah in the name of the Sharee-ah, saying: ‘’There is no judgement except with Allaah’’, so Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu) said to them: ‘’You have uttered a statement of truth by way of which you intend falsehood.’’

This is the path of the khawaarij since the early days. Therefore, it is obligatory to be eager for knowledge and to attach oneself to the scholars of the Sunnah; the scholars of hadeeth and the fuqahaa, so that one does not fall into the schemes of these khawaarij imposters.
