When do we call a person a student of knowledge? [Reminder for those who say: We only invite those who have graduated!]

Question to Shaikh Ubaid Al-Jaabiri (may Allaah preserve him):

When is the (term) Taalib Al-Ilm (Student of knowledge) applied to a person?

Answer:

If a person is known for (his) adherence to the people of knowledge (i.e. the scholars) and taking from them (i.e. seeking knowledge) from them, he is called a student of knowledge. [End of quote]

All praise is due to Allaah. In the West we have been blessed with salafi students of knowledge- graduates from Madeenah University as well as others who have been seeking knowledge from the scholars for many years. They are known to the scholars for their trustworthiness and firmness upon the Manhaj As-Salafi. They are known to Shaikh Ubaid, Shaikh Rabee, Shaikh Muhammad Bin Haadi, Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari and others (may Allaah preserve them all). In our Maraakiz we invite all the Salafi students of knowledge who are trusted by the scholars, whether they studied under the scholars at Madeenah University or studied under the scholars outside the University. We ask Allaah for Ikhlaas, Thabaat, Sidq and Husnul Khaatimah. Aameen

[10] Fataawaa Regarding Women: What is incumbent on a woman if she has a dream in her sleep that she’s having sexual intercourse with a man?

Question

What is incumbent on a woman to do if she has a dream in her sleep that she’s having sexual intercourse with a man?

Answer:

If a man dreams in his sleep that he is having sexual intercourse with a woman, or if a woman dreams in her sleep that a man is having sexual intercourse with her, then there is no blame (i.e. sin) on them. That is because accountability is removed from them in a state of sleep and due to their inability to prevent that.  That because Allaah (The Most High) does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. And also due to what has been narrated from the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam ) that he said: “The pen (i.e. accountability) is lifted from three (people): The sleeping person until he (or she) wakes up; the insane person until he (or she) returns to sanity and the child until he (or she) reaches the age of puberty. (1) The one who sees such a dream should make Ghusl if he (or she) saw a discharge (i.e. sexual discharge). (2)

[8] Fataawaa Regarding Women: Is a woman required to perform Wudhoo after giving her son or daughter a wash? Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

If a woman gives her little son or daughter a wash and touches the private part of (the child), it is not obligated on her to perform Wudhoo; rather she only washes her hands. That is because touching the private part without sexual desire does not make Wudhoo obligatory. And it is well known that sexual desire does not come into the thoughts of a woman who gives her children a wash; so after she gives a little girl or boy a wash, she only washes off the impurity on her hands, but Wudhoo is not obligated on her.

[7] Fataawaa Regarding Women: Does this break the Wudhoo of a woman?

Question:

There is a woman, who when she performs Ruku and Sujood-especially at the end of the Sujood, the sitting between the two Sujoods and the sitting for the Tashahhud- air is released from her private part (i.e. the vagina) to the extent that those close to her do hear it; so is her prayer nullified? And sometimes little air is released and no one hears it, so is her Salaah and Wudhoo nullified?

Answer:

The release of air from the front private part (i.e. the vagina) does not nullify Wudhoo. [Fataawaa lajnah Ad-Daa’imah 5/259]

Ibn Umar (radiyallaahu-anhumaa) warned a friend of his about deviation! A Reminder to those who deliberately befriend the obstinate people of bidah

It was narrated that Nafi’ said: “Ibn ‘Umar had a friend among the people of Ash-Sham, with whom he used to correspond. ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Umar wrote to him saying: ‘I have heard that you are speaking about some matter of Al-Qadar (the Divine Decree). So do not write to me, for I heard the Messenger of Allah say: “There will be among my Ummah people who will disbelieve in Al-Qadar (the divine decree).”

[6] Fataawaa Regarding Women: Allocating time for seeking knowledge and household chores

Question:

Which of the two is more virtuous for a Muslim woman; should she fulfill the household duties and the rights of her husband, or should she allocate time for seeking knowledge (of the religion) and employ a foreign servant to fulfill the household duties?

Answer: Yes, it is obligated on a female Muslim to seek understanding of her religion as much as she is able. But the obligation to serve her husband, obey her husband (i.e. in that which is lawful) and nurture her children is a great obligation.  She should allocate time to study everyday even if that is little, or sits for a short while, or she allocates some time to read every day and utilises the remaining time to fulfill her daily chores.

So, she neither abandons seeking understanding of her religion nor does she abandon her chores and children to the servant. She should be moderate in this affair- allocates time for seeking understanding even if that is little and allocates enough time to fulfill the household chores. [5] Fataawaa Regarding Women: Is it forbidden for a female student to free mix with males in the schools, colleges etc

Answer:

The reason behind the prohibition against free mixing between men and women is due to fear of falling into fitnah, lest it becomes a means to committing lewd acts; (a means) to violating the honour of women and corrupting the society. And indeed these affairs can become a greater reality through free mixing in education. Therefore, it (i.e. free mixing in education) is forbidden. [Fataawaa Al-Lajnah Ad-Daa’imah 12/169]

[4] Fataawaa Regarding Women: The situation of an unmarried woman who enters paradise, or a married woman whose husband did not enter paradise- By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

Question:

If a woman is from the people of paradise but she was not married in the worldly life, or she was married but her husband did not enter paradise, then what will be her situation?

Answer:

The answer to this is taken from the general statement of Allaah (The Most High):

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ

نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ

Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for. An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [41:31-32]

And from the statement of Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

”(There will be) therein all that the one’s inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever.” [43:71]

If a woman is from the people of paradise but she was not married (in the worldly life) or her husband is not from the people of paradise, then when she enters paradise there will be men from the people of paradise who were not married (in the worldly wife). They (i.e. those men of paradise who were not married in the worldly life) will have wives from the ‘Hoorul Ain’ and wives from the people of the worldly life if they wish.

Likewise if a woman did not have a husband in the worldly life, or she had a husband but he did not enter paradise, then what she desires has to be available if she wishes to marry due to the general statement of Allaah [i.e. in soorah 41, aayaat 31-32].

However, I do not have a specific text with me at present in this affair and with Allaah is knowledge of the affair. [Majmoo Fataawaa 2/52]

[3] Fataawaa Regarding Women: The men will have the Hoorul Ain in Jannah; but what will the women have? [By Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)]

Question: It is stated (in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah) that the men will have the Hoorul Ain in Jannah, so what will the women have?

Answer:

Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) stated concerning the enjoyment the people of Paradise will (receive):

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ

نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ

Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for. An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [41:31-32]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

(There will be) therein all that the one’s inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever. [43:71]

It is well known that marriage is the greatest thing that the souls desire and it will be present in Jannah for the people of Jannah-men and women. In Jannah, Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) will give a woman in marriage to the husband who was her husband in the worldly life, as Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) said:

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

“Our Lord! And make them enter the ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. [40:8]
